coolfeel Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Jol posted a nice picture of the back of my guitar today - check out that contoured heel! Looks like we are on the home stretch...
Sugartune Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Slow process, eh? I trust it'll be worth the wait.Looks like a beauty though.
django49 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I love the sound of redwood in the morning. Even more so at night.Anxious to get the full report on that one!
coolfeel Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Dude! That guitar is looking so awesome! Thanks Jim - I didn't take you for a fan of the Tally style guitars though...
veatch Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Jol posted a nice picture of the back of my guitar today - check out that contoured heel! Looks like we are on the home stretch...Holy lightly figured limba, Batman! That's going to be a killer guitar.
6onthesly Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 WOW, I have seen this on his FB page. Congrats already, it's a beauty.
devrock Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Jol is certainly taking his time with this. Doesn't seem like much progress at all from June to now, no?
6onthesly Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Looks like Jol has posted a couple new pics....
coolfeel Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 The guitar is nearing completion - Jol shared some color samples with me this weekend. If the color turns out as well on the finished product as it did on the samples, all I can say is DAMN!

If the color turns out as well on the finished product as it did on the samples, all I can say is DAMN! Ironically that's probably the same thing you'll say if it doesn't turn out as well.
sixesandsevens Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Jol posted a nice picture of the back of my guitar today - check out that contoured heel! Looks like we are on the home stretch...Is that a subtle german carve on the back too? I'd have to play it to know if I'd like that or not, but visually it's a nice touch

I'd have to play it to know if I'd like that or not, but visually it's a nice touchI don't think that was the intent - it's a belly-cut similar to the Talladega Pro. This guitar combines some of the best elements of both the Talladega and Talladega Pro designs with some additional updates/upgrades that Jol has suggested along the way.
marcnorth Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I can't wait to see the finished product.
Pieman Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 For those of us who are not FB-ers, could somebody post those photos here? Unless there's another way without registering. thanks
coolfeel Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 A little teaser pic of the top with some finish on it. The top isn't done yet and what till ya see the back.
diablo175 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Lookin' good, Mike! How long has this been in the works? This thread started in April of '13. Is Jol anticipating delivery before April '15? If your situation is at all like mine were, the wait is barely tolerable but in the end, VERY much worth it.
coolfeel Posted December 5, 2014 Author Posted December 5, 2014 Lookin' good, Mike! How long has this been in the works? This thread started in April of '13. Is Jol anticipating delivery before April '15? If your situation is at all like mine were, the wait is barely tolerable but in the end, VERY much worth it. I think I placed the order back in Feb or March of of 13 so it is creeping up on 2 years now. Not really an issue as I have other guitars to tide me over and Jol has been pretty busy as well. He has been pretty cool to work with, every time we talk it's sorta like two friends catching up and talking about everything else not related to guitars...
gorch Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 It looks like to become a guitar for life. Very nice top on that one. I dig the vertically oriented wood grain. Worth the wait!
Pieman Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 T"his guitar combines some of the best elements of both the Talladega and Talladega Pro designs with some additional updates/upgrades that Jol has suggested along the way." What were Jol's suggested changes? The photo of the Tulsa on his website has offset poles on the bridge pickup and the p/up selector is different. Did you talk about moving the pickup select below the bridge, as on a Tally? I would prefer the ability to switch with my pinky. Not a big deal but I notice the difference when playing my Tally and T Pro. Also, the order to delivery date is longer than the gestation period of a blue whale. Did he mention this schedule at the outset? To me that would be a turn off. What are the factors contributing to this? Just curious and not being negative. Your patience level seems to be fairly high. Shiskov seems to be a bit more productive at the time being. Maybe not a fair comparison. Merry Christmas to all of us.
