jaberwock Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Damn! Fine work indeed.Second that !! I'm intrigued, you must have set them up, and played them, which one was your favourite ? Jaberwock
RichRS6 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Wicked work, not sure why you posted the pictures of your ear wax though.
G Man Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Man, that Jazzmaster is really sweet, not that the others are slouches by any means, but the matching headstock, red finish and tort. guard is all sorts of doing it for me.Killer work as always Jay.
murkat Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 Thank you gents! Flood damage? Yes, some kind of moisture was wicked into the cases, and then on to the but ends. Not from the Nashville flood, elsewhere. The worst of the two is the JM. Mold spores all over it. The original case is shot, fungus and spores all in it, around it, within it. After some intense hygiene... Damn! Fine work indeed. Second that !! I'm intrigued, you must have set them up, and played them, which one was your favourite ? Jaberwock The strat. It is a strat. But all of them are very cool in there respective ways, place in tone, in time.
specialk Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 The owners should be very pleased!Congrats to Murkat on the great work.
gtone Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Spores in the pores - hate when that happens!! The right man has his hands on, in this case - nice work, Jaymaster. Wouldn't mind taking that Jazzblaster for a spin...
HamStd Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 The Strat and the Jazzmaster are mine. I wouldn't trust the vintage pieces in my collections to any wannabes and while it has been clearly stated by so many others here, JAY IS THE MAN, a true Artist and a craftsman. He "gets it" and really can work true magic!!! Thank you Jay!!! I am already getting two of my 50's Les Pauls ready to send over to Jay to tweak up!!! Peter

Peter Never mind keeping Murkat in the business, but how do you store your guitars? Excellent work btw.!
burningyen Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Man, Peter, sorry your guitars sustained that kind of damage. I hope that was the worst of it. But looking forward to the results of this thread!
HamStd Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Peter.... We're these from that flood years back or something recent? Curious because I have a guitar with similar damage that has been sitting a couple of years. It was from a flood many years back. It was poor storage on my part and Mother Nature getting really pissed off that resulted in this one. I will just say Jay is the man. We had a good discussion on the options to perform and he went over these with a fine tooth comb (I can just imagine him in the space suit for protection so the mold didn't kill him). I did the same thing-just sort of tuck these away and not think about them. I treated the cases with bleach to try and kill off the growth, but if the guitar had been infected then it was going to come back. Send it to Jay, he can do it!!! Peter
HamStd Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Peter Never mind keeping Murkat in the business, but how do you store your guitars? I know this is embarrassing on my part to let two vintage pieces like this (have you seen the going prices of '58 strats these days, it is down from 5 years ago but still in the nice used car price range) even get to this point. Peter
Hamerica Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Great work. It is nice to see some vintage wood getting restored. Can't wait to see the Gibbys!Hamerica
gtone Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Peter - I know they're just "old" guitars to you and all, but you're really not supposed to leave those vintage Fenders in the floor of your boat. Just sayin' man...

Just sayin' man... Believe me, Jay gave me a nice lecture about storing guitars on a stand like most normal people as oppose to under the bed, especially if you have a water bed...... Peter
kizanski Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 ... especially if you have a water bed......Oh...no....
serial Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Saw the water damage and thought of Peter's stuff immediately. Glad Jay could work his magic on them-a true artist!
