It gets done when it gets done, and whenever Mike asks me for my top deets or specifics, I'm still "Make it natural unless you see blue/red/burst/whatever when you look at the wood. If the top is calling, heed its call, man." They're all gonna look good and play well so I'm just anticipating fun.

Something else to look forward to! This just gets more exciting the longer it goes! You CO veterans can just ignore my giddiness. This is my first and I'm going to savor every bit of it!
RobB Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Typically, when Mike sends out in-progress pics to the individual prospective owners, he will either ask them if it's okay for HIM to post the pics, mention that he'd prefer to keep a particular shot private, or will say it's okay to post. He's not trying to be mysterious at all, but there are definitely some things that are meant to be a surprise or Mike feels he prefers to not have posted at that time. He is also leaving it up to the future Shishkov owners as to whether they want things shared. Some things will have a greater impact either at a later point in the build process or upon completion. All of this is certainly keeping a great level of excitement going - for ME, at least!As far as "top envy" - I think every single top that I saw was worthy of eliciting that kind of response. Mike has got some amazing stuff going, and we have just scratched the surface!Mike sent me an email today with a couple of pics of my Ultimate body. It has a beautiful, tight flame with the wavy, vertical grain lines that I like so much in flamed maple tops. I'll share the photos once the guitar is delivered, it is going to be a beauty!

This is a fact confirmed via email from Mike! Thanks Wasn't doubting the veracity of your statement at all. If you'll check quite a few posts back in this epic you'll see discussion of how a certain HFCer posted a similar declaration that I then listed in the Registry. I was then informed by the HFCer I was jumping to conclusions and that posting of a four digit number was not tantamount to disclosing a serial number assignment [and so you see the reason for my second sentence, above, offering to remove your name from the Registry in case I was again assuming too much]. "Taking that as fact" would have been better said by me as, "I am assuming you are disclosing you have been assigned Shishkov Ultimate 0041." Hopefully that clears all of that up.
