polara Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 Very nice. Orange guitars are awesome!THANK you! I feel like there's a real dearth of orange guitars around these parts.Looks awesome Polara!Hell's bells. Just got back from rehearsal. Two things:One, I hate hype. Hate groupthink latest-greatest hype. I was psyched to get this guitar but was 100% prepared to be the first guy to sell a Shishkov it it just wasn't my groove. And I'm just not a pointy guitar guy. But the weight, neck, ease of play, balance were impressive. Two, I'm cheap. I want want want my Squier Strat and $75 Yamaha solid-state to deliver the goods and if I were a gifted player they probably would. So I'm reflexively suspicious of high-end stuff as being puffery and flash for TGP guys, toys and trophies that don't add up to what a gigging musician needs.So... man it sounds nice. This sounds weird but this is the only guitar I have with cleans sitting in the mix as distinctively as the dirty sounds. It has this chimey presence akin to an acoustic guitar that had me fiddling with the amp a lot, turning the clean volume down so it didn't overwhelm the dirty sounds.Another really strange thing is that I had the Zvex Mastrotron dialed for a Strat but I only had to nudge a couple dials to get great fuzz on the neck pickup of the Ultimate. Again it has this clarity, or focus or something... Other humbucker guitars tend to get too indistinct and gummy sounding with that particular pedal.Um, no. Won't be selling it and won't be freaking out trying to keep it immaculate. It's made to play.
Bobby Marshall Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Shishkov is guitar speak for bad@$$mutha... All these are incredible. Does this one have the wide dots at the 12th fret? All these special elements, Shlabotniks, polara carve, bubsburst, etc. could become a Shishkov lexicon . . .
polara Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 Does this one have the wide dots at the 12th fret? Yeah, a nice shout-out to the roots of the maker

I should totally get a snap of that wallet from Pulp Fiction and have Mike make mine the one that says "Bad Mother F*cker" on it.
Jakeboy Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 LOVE me some trans Orange over maple. That is my next Shishkov color.Beautiful Ultimate. So wonderful that they play every bit a s good as they look.As BJ said above... Again.
django49 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Nice! I have a really good looking "orange burst" on one guitar. Now I am pondering how replicating that on a Shishkov would work!
BruceM Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Dibs! that looks just like the Standard I used to own, which Eric Weston talked me into selling to him as his 40th birthday present to himself. Awesome guitar!Edited to add: right down to the bound body, unbound dot neck. I love orange guitars.
GASguy Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Love the orange finish, and everything else as well! Each and every one of these Ulitmates I have seen have been consistently breathtaking.Congratulations.
BTMN Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I have showed this Shishkov Ultimate to a couple of "fans of all things Orange" and both of them were OOHHing and AHHHing loudly when the pictures opened. Life Is Good! Reminded me of the wood being washed with Orange Crush soda a little I told one of them. We concurred.
