prototype-fan Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Chicago Music Exchange has a Hollow Body Cruise Bass at what appears to be a reasonable price: http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/collections/just-arrived/products/hamer-cruise-hollow-body-bass-natural-1990sNever seen one of these before... Are there many hollow body Cruise basses out there?
crunchee Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Damn, that sucks. 'Cause I'm broke already.
atquinn Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 First one I've ever seen. Looks awesome and that's a killer price!-Austin
MCChris Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Wow, that's cool, and right down the street from where I work. The music store that was close to the cafe had one of these. Not this nice, though!Best part: No ridiculous "comma" pickguard.
atquinn Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 So that weighs 9.5 lbs. How much do regular 2 Tek Cruises weigh?-Austin
HAMERMAN Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Very cool - besides being hollow I have never seen the following on a cruise:Figured topSquared off body with bindingNeck with bindingNo pickguard

Steve Haynie Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 "Sold Out" is a funny way to list a likely one of a kind instrument.
Keoghpjk Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 "Sold Out" is a funny way to list a likely one of a kind instrument. I don't mind them listing it that way. I just bought it.
bcsride Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Dang, that is spectacular. I'd have bought it if it wasn't gone already. "Sold Out" is a funny way to list a likely one of a kind instrument. I don't mind them listing it that way. I just bought it. Good for you.
Keoghpjk Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 A soon as I saw the price I pulled the trigger, I saw this thread just after.
HamStd Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Very cool - besides being hollow I have never seen the following on a cruise: Figured top Squared off body with binding Neck with binding No pickguard Hamer did the first two features on this cruise in the early 80's. Unfortunately I missed out on the matching Phantom (same nice amber finish) to go with this one. Peter

I am pretty sure the FMT Phantom is floating around here in the US. That is really the beauty of the Artisans at Hamer, just when you think you have seen the coolest pieces, along comes another amazing toy from those guys. They are out there!!!
Steve Haynie Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 A soon as I saw the price I pulled the trigger, I saw this thread just after. I'm shocked it was less then a grand. You have bragging rights!

ARM OF HAMER Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 "Sold Out" is a funny way to list a likely one of a kind instrument. I don't mind them listing it that way. I just bought it. SCORE! Congrats!
MCChris Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 It's more like I have poor impulse control.Mine's nothing to brag about either. I almost drove over there on my lunch break!
mc2 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Kind of heavy for a 90s Cruise Bass 4-string. The 5-string solid body ones usually weigh that much.Cool looking bass, except for the bound neck IMO.
HamStd Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 D'ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Thanks alot brother Chris. Peter
mirrorimij Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Here is the CAD drawing with a few other projects from the same timeframe. The first one we built had a carved top, Gotoh bridge and different pickup configuration. The "work order" that got the project going on the first one. I am pretty sure you can count the number of f hole Cruisebasses that exist on one hand. If I had to guess I would say 2 or 3.
killerteddybear Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Okay, I'm calling dibs!That's beautiful.
