Many many years ago I put mirrored plexiglass on the face of an Explorer-type POS and the effect was much better than the guitar. In my old age, my 'flash' is a lot less flashy. I guess 'boring' would be more appropriate. So anyways..... For Strat stuff I use this instead: ....because it sounds like a really fat Strat, actually plays good, and while not exactly flashy, it 'wows' a little better than your average Strat. I mean, who wouldn't rather see a Firebird?!? It's a cheapy Dillion, but far better than expected. I know you guys have waaaay flashier (bass boat!!) stuff than that. Let's see 'em!

I have brought this sweet 2005 Dean Z along a few times. This P90 Z was modeled after a BCRMusic ordered Hamer Standard. Victoria. Prototype to a run of 16 guitars. Loaded with P90s out of a 1996 Hamer P90 Goldtop Studio.

DaveL Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 I had thought this was the coolest thing ever (for obvious reasons lol) I was really careful, and matched the parts perfectly (original Floyd rose, actual charvel neck). Unfortunately, it didn't sound as good as it looks and was soon parted out... had read that Eddie had f'd up his Ibanez destroyer (The one on the women and children cover) by cutting it up in a star-ish shape... so maybe that was it. finish by Stike, of course

When the house lights hit them it was like a disco ball being lit up.
MCChris Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 The "Tele" in the middle was purchased strictly for visual appeal. Fortunately it also sounds really good with the GFS Hot Liverpool in it (the original JB was no slouch either, actually, but didn't have "the look"). The "Tele" on the right is also rather visually striking in a different way (and also sounds really good with the Gravelin pickups).
crunchee Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 I don't do flash much anymore. I do meh now. It keeps grabby hands and five-fingered discounters away. If I have to, I can always slap on an old chrome pickguard on a LP, that'll usually satisfy the 'ooh shiny!' crowd.

cmatthes Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 I love metalflakes and odd colors as much as I like the regular vintage-y stuff. Hard to pin it down, but these are a bit "flashy"... Chartreuse Metalflake Stike's magic Silver Holoflake + some other good stuff... This borders on the unnecessary, but... Stike also gave a boring old '64 Jazzmaster a new lease on life... I love Korina as much as the next guy, but "Guards Red" looks great on anything! My first good guitar - an '81 LP Custom - needed some sprucing up, so I dropped it off with a friend at PRS 20 years ago and told him to surprise me. The finish tag read "Experimental Blue Holoflake"...

Not on the level of Hamer, to be honest, but really good. And by that I mean it was like tryting to find that great Les Paul: you had to play a few. The others were good, but nothing that really blew you away. You never really had that issue with Hamer. What they lacked in that "quality" (however you choose to define it), they made up for in doing pretty much ANYTHING you asked them to (which was very much unlike Hamer, especially at the time). So, when the fellow who ordered this guitar said that he wanted checkerboard on everything, including the fingerboard, and that all of the lines should line up on the back plates and the pickups and pickup rings, they said, "Sure." It's just as well that the guitar was a dudd. It literally gave me a headache every time I played it. Without an amp. True story. Another example of GMP's willingness to do anything they were asked is he one and only HEMIBIRD. A guitar so nice I bought it twice. This is no dudd!

Funnily enough, most of my guitars are opaque finished. How boring Anyway, on with some of the fancier looking ones Can this even be classed as "fancy"? Flame top For some reason IMO, this really pops \ Bought this for rarity factor Lastly, to end on a controversial note
