Hbom Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Another nice Hamer getting the Rodney Dangerfield treatment from GC. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Hamer/NewPort-Hollow-Body-Electric-Guitar.gc
currypowder Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Damn, that's less than I paid for mine, and I thought I got a killer deal. It probably has a case, too. No brainer in my book.
BubbaVO Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Had me scared for minute. Thank goodness there's a Bigsby on it.
LittleC Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I could be wrong but I do not think that is a PRO model. I believe that is a NEW model. Different woods, pickups, Bigsby, etc. STILL, a GREAT deal!!!

DaveL Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Thanks Hbom, unless someone snagged online last night, am going to give it a shot... could really use a hollow body, and although I like epi's and gretsch imports, I think this will work out better. which begs the question... anyone know the current TKL model compatible with this?

There isn't one, not that I can find, anyway. Hamer had them produced special for the Newport and a couple of other models. I'm thinking an ES-339 case might work, and Epiphone has one you can buy online for around $90. I've been meaning to pick one up, just haven't gotten around to it, yet.

The mono gigbag gets great reviews and praise especially here but there are options for storage. Hang that bitch on a wall hanger and play the snot out of it! I have the same finish/model and there are quite special. And the price is a bargain even if you found a Hamer case and bought it for $200 you would be well ahead of the game. Somebody buy this! You will.have no regrets and not going to loose a penny if you flip it if it's not your thing. But it will be!
Hbom Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 We're sorry—we no longer carry this item. I see it's gone this morning. Did you get it DaveL?

I got a confirmation so I think I got it... I used the shopping cart method (7% top cashback, plus 5% gc card rewards) which helped offset the lack of a case I expect to know once they open

I guess I'll need to go over to Guitar Center and see if they have one.
DaveL Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 good point hamerhead... you are probably right on that. I have a larger road runner gig bag that worked for a gretsch hollow body, I think that may work until I find something better.
hamerhead Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Or just send me the Newport and I'll try it in the 339 case. For a month or so.
RobB Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Well done, Dave! Super Snout strikes again..! Looking forward to your thoughts on the stock Duncan PhatCats. They weren't my thing, but they DO have a lot of 'ZING' and you may like them. I put TVJones Classictrons in my Newport (now owned by HFCer Lockbody), and they had exactly the sound I was looking for. Enjoy, brudda!
DaveL Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 yes, I'll check with TKL on the dimensions once it hits... Rob, yes, I had seen some people put the filtertron style p/u's in a newport which seems very cool. I may check that out at some point... had a cabronita once that sounded great thru a marshall... for some reason it didn't stay very long That might be a nice match for a hamer.

They do a respectable job with the occasional surf and harder rock song, too. All-in-all a very versatile combination.
