hamerhead Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 So I'm sittin' there minding my own business when Shawn PMs me with a link to guitar I needed. It was pretty cool, and the place that did it would also build to order. I hit them up with some ideas and they said 'Sure, we can do that'. Well the more I thought about it the more I looked at this one and decided that if they could put a 12" radius neck on it I'd give it a whirl. So I got this: It's a pine-bodied TeleBo (my name for it), and it's just the damnedest thing. It's light weight but rock solid and comfortable as all get out. And I've had those peewee bridge humbuckers in other guitars and didn't like 'em, but here it just rips - a really nice full cut and in your face without Tele harshness. I wasn't expecting this at all. Pine? Really? The body is finished with milk paint and the pickguard is genuine Texas license plate. The neck is from Allparts that they finished with Tru-Oil. Every neck on every guitar I own should have this. What a great feel. It was built by Ralph's House of Tone in Dover, NH. They currently have a Telebird (Firebird/Telecaster) on Reverb. I'm tempted to grab that one, too. This one is absolutely stupid good for the price, and it'll get used a lot.

There's a pine billy-bo body in the wood pile cut for filtertrons and a tele neck, but I'm trying to dig up the proper paint for it. The color on yours in darned close though (just needs a little yellow and 310 lol). That Texas plate is a real nice touch too. Guess i gotta get going on some of my projects. Very cool score!

They have a nice "look" to their stuff. @Jeff Rand I have been wanting to build a Telebird-type thing for years. This just might be my motivation.

When the TeleBo originally arrived with a tiny neck (smaller than my '81 Special), he swapped it out no problem. Again - the bang-for-the-buck factor on this one is incredible. Removing the gloss and oil finishing the one on my favorite mutt tele has been on my to-do list for ages now. And yes, I need to get off my ass and craft a Telebird nightmare. Lefty head is a no-brainer.

I've used a couple necks from Warmoth before and they didn't stick around for long. It's all about the feel.

Loosen neck attachment screws.2. Turn TR adjusting bold at neck heel. 3. Tighten neck attachment screws. 4. Tune to pitch and adjust intonation. 5. Repeat. Often several times. The good news is that with bolt on necks, the truss rod adjustment tends to stay put once it's set.
