I think the concept is ingenious.  The bass has a built in shillelagh for those times the audience gets out of hand.

Looks fine on an upright and stupid on an electric. And who needs the extra neck dive??

I had a cheap upright bass with this pegbox. Apparently Framus sold an electric upright with a similar style. It must be a German thing, because my old bass was stamped "Made in Western Germany". It didn't have any other identifying marks.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Carvin's pointy inline 12-string headstock yet.  According to carvinmuseum.com, they only made them in 1988-9, which must've been the high-water mark for pointy guitars.  It probably sounded like a better design in theory, but wound up in practice more like a nightmare:

Because I’m still trying to forget it ever existed...  thanks for bringing it back up. First time I saw that I had hoped it was a product of photoshop.
