bry4321 Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 What’s a good one that won’t break the bank?
Hbom Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Depends on the size of your bank, but Strymon's Flint was recommended by Dr.Z. He said you don't need reverb in your amp with the Flint!" I'm not sure it's "The Best" but it is darn good. LovePedal Reverb Trails and HSR3 work well too.
RobB Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 For surf-ey verb, I like the Catalinbread Topanga. It sounds great and is easy to dial in. It can do some crazy, effed-up things, too. Keeley Memphis Sun for classic, vintage verbs and rockabilly slapback. I personally use a Catalinbread Talisman on my heads with FX loops. It's does a great plate verb and can run at 18v. Sounds great with high-gain. I have the mix at about 50pct, just enough to give a little ambience without being too overbearing/muddy. I think the EHX Oceans 11 is probably the best bang for the buck. Lots of knobs and it's bigger than I prefer, but they can be had pretty cheap.
Dave Scepter Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Cough Cough... Electro Harmonix Oceans 11 TC Electronic Hall Of Fame
Gabe Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 TC Electronics Hall of Fame 2. The Strymon Flint is also awesome (but does cost significantly more money). Gabe 😀
Travis Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 I think you’re going to get about as many recommendations as responses here. Meaning, most people will recommend the reverb pedal they have. If they didn’t like it, they wouldn’t have it. That being said: I’m a huge fan of my T-Rex Roommate Jr…. 😉

LucSulla Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 I use a Keely Caverns V2. At has a delay side, but I use it mostly for Reverb. It does way more than I need and isn't too much.
Dutchman Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Source Audio Ventris. Not cheap but it does it all beautifully!
Saul Goodman Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Anderton's has several reverb shootouts. I like watching Rebea. He seems to have the best ear. Pete's fun though, he's a clown. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=andertons+reverb+shootout
JES1680 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I like Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master Reverb and delay in one pedal 4 knobs. Easy. Also JRocket Boing is great for those of us who love simple. 1 knob.
Jakeboy Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 The Lovepedal 65 Reverb is fantastic. It really does sound like a Fender verb. Hermida Spring is very good. If you can swing it, the Flint is very versatile and sounds incredible. It is what I use now. The 70s Plate setting is addictive.
Jimbilly Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I had a JHS I sold to a friend, I thought it sounded really good, I think he really likes it too.
cmatthes Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I really like the TC Electronics stuff too. Very organic/natural sounding. I pretty much HAD to buy this one, which is actually pretty decent - partially because my twin brother ("Serial") designed/conceived it, but also because I'm a Mighty Boosh fan. https://reverb.com/item/1612707-noisekick-fx-gregg-s-place-reverb-mangina-green
Hamer95USA Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 On my Reverend Goblin 5/15 watt and Kingsnake 1x12 combo amps, I use the tube driven reverb on my combo amps. For my other amps that doesn't have reverb, I have an old Boss RV-2 reverb pedal that I will use for this purpose. I haven't used it in awhile.
shankyboy Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Huge fan of the Strymon Flint. Been using mine for almost 10 years and it is my "go to" pedal if my amp does not have Reverb or Tremolo.

I've also got an old RV-2, and I don't use it much, but it does the job when needed, and it's old and made in Japan.
bry4321 Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 Thanks for all the suggestions. Never heard back from craigslist guy on EH Oceans Eleven but got a good Reverb deal on used Boing which turned out not to be such a good deal because the package was stolen. Because I have another Rockett pedal I like, and the one knob design appeals to me, I just ordered a b-stock Boing directly from Rockett. In the meantime I need to check out Mighty Boosh. I recognize one of the actors from What We Do In The Shadows.
