Dave Scepter Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 (edited) Anybody know the story/status of this guitar?.. I've seen a couple of different versions of this Vector... notice the pickguard and truss rod cover? https://www.groundguitar.com/gary-moore-gear/gary-moores-1980s-hamer-vector/ Edited February 7, 2024 by Dave Scepter 2 Quote
topekatj Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Interesting. There’s a locking nut on the guitar image that’s by itself. 2 Quote
Disturber Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Just recently got into appreciating his later blues albums. When they came out in the early 90's I thought they were lame. Gary is missed. 2 Quote

Hamerica Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 One of the greatest things ever to come from internet interaction was learning about this web page. It lead to meeting some life long friends. Brother “Hangman” McCombs is one of those. He reintroduced me to Buddy Whittington and to Gary Moore’s Blues albums. After Buddy left John Mayall’s band he had a UK band and various blues rock vein guys would play in on his UK tour dates. Gary Moore was a regular. There are a few YouTube videos on line. Here’s a staple. If there is a rock and roll heaven you know Gary is there. Hamerica 6 Quote

Jakeboy Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Gary Moore reminds me of Jeff Beck and EVH…he makes it sound effortless. It’s like he could do whatever he wanted on the instrument. And he played with intense passion. There is a version of him playing Red House with a red Strat that is stupid great. He just burns. I love all his blues albums. His version of Thirty Days on his Close As You Get album is him just ripping on a Tele. One of my guitar heroes for sure. When I was gigging, I loved to play Still Got the Blues so I could pretend I was him, lol. 8 Quote
MTM105 Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I saw Gary play live 1986 or 87 Killeen, TX. It was a small venue promoted on radio. Could not have been more than 150-200 people. He played as if there were 20,000. 5 Quote
svl Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 John C Reilly really needs to play him in a bio pic. 1 3 Quote
The Shark Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 (edited) My favorite guitarist ever. Met him and Graham Lilly (his tech) at the Hard Rock Restaurant show in Orlando in February of 1991. They were working up the setlist/show at one of the private soundstages in Orlando. Did an impromptu show announced on the radio the same day. A buddy called me and we went right down. I knew the manager and he got us seats along the rail (like a front row). Great show. Maybe 100 people. Got to hold and play "Scar (the Montrose burst)", but Graham said Gary didn't let anyone play Greeny. I got to touch it though! Gary played a DSL Marshall and a Bluesbreaker combo that night. His rig had been shipped to New York earlier in the day for the Letterman appearance. My band still plays Still Got the Blues at every gig. This past Saturday for example. Always goes over well and people always come up and ask who wrote that song. Edited May 13, 2024 by The Shark 8 Quote

DaveL Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 I saw him at the Cape Cod Coliseum, general admission front row... the Corridor of Power album had just come out. He was fantastic. remember Neil Murray (original Whitesnake lineup, I think) and Neil Carter (he replaced Paul Raymond in UFO in the 80's and again after he passed). I loved that tune End of the World... Opening up for Def Lep on the Pyromania tour... chicks all over the place. 2 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 Saw Thin Lizzy open up for Queen... BEST CONCERT I'VE EVER SEEN! Philip Lynott, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, and Gary Moore Best lineup for ANY band period! 4 Quote
