Hi everyone, wonderful guitar, but I'm not playing it, so I decided to sell it. It's listed here: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/1978-hamer-sunburst/3421441880-74-2091 It has had changed tuners, now back to original 70s Grovers but not original to this particular guitar. HFC deal for EUR 3.000,- excluding any fees, potential shipping etc. I'm not crazy about shipping this guitar so if anyone interested here has the chance to pick it up in person that would be great (Dusseldorf, Germany), but I can and will ship in the EU, have done it before, should be fine. Shipping to the US is impossible at the moment for me (wouldn't now how to insure it properly, super expensive etc), sorry! Medium neck, frets still great, no breaks/ repairs, original case with red plush, later 1978 already with the sustain block (which I love). Cheers C.5 points

That is one way to keep people from asking to play your guitar.5 points

I've never seen a black Sustain Block trem before 😳 and very cool bicolor tuners... I would have snagged this up had that been a sustained block bridge 1983 Hamer Blitz Guitar - Pewter Dark Green Metallic - Sustain Block Tremolo, Original Hardshell Case https://reverb.com/item/94613109?utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=android-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=946131094 points

EUR 3.000 = $3,500 US and is a screaming deal! Getting it to the states is another issue, of course, but it's still a great deal.4 points

That's killer, but the trem arm has to be the tire tool from the tour bus! Reminds me of the Phil X' Flipstick from BITD3 points

I remember going to Arnold & Morgan Music in Garland TX in the late 70s, they had this poster and one of the employees had scrawled across it BARBARA STRIESAND PLAYS IBANEZ!!!3 points

... or the fact he was diagnosed with AIDS in '87... Great movie, but clearly not historical record...2 points

AI says: Hamer revamped the Chaparral in 1987, changing the headstock from the original, sharply dropping "hockey stick" style to a longer, more mildly angled 6-in-line design similar to the Californian model. [1, 2, 3] During this 1987 revision, Hamer also split the model line into Bolt-On and Custom variants and updated the scale length from 24 3/4 to 25 1/2 But my my '90 has this 🫤 I'm thinking there was at least 3 different headstock variations And these 2 next photos are both '872 points

It's in great condition. The black paint on the headstock has suffered around the tuners, but that's something I've seen quite a lot on those sunbursts and specials from that time.2 points

There were major time reference errors in that movie, like the band learning the STOMP STOMP CLAP before Live Aid, when the song, We Will Rock You, came out in 1977.2 points

Hi from the beautiful Milano, Italia this baby has to go, too much stuff in this appartment... 1993 Hamer Special, excellent shape, some small dings but nothing really visible except a small crack in the varnish at the neck junction (just the paint, nothing structural) original Hardshell case, in very good condition slim neck, Schaller tuners MODS : -Lollar neck P90 -I put the original neck PU (SD SP90-2n MJ) in the bridge position (polarity changed for phase purposes) I love that PU in this position, the original bridge PU was sold -knobs changed but I have the original ones -copper shielded cavity -wiring with 1 Vol and 2 tone, as I like it happy to ship to HFC members with anticipated paypal F&F, vivible in Milano or France (I travel a lot between IT and FR) thinking of 1400 EUR + shipping, I paid 1600 EUR 5 years ago to a french fellow and didn't use it that much as my beloved Newport Pro is still N°1 take care!1 point

Blackmore’s tech installed a few of those bars in his Strats. Didn’t help much, as he kept snapping the bars off in the blocks. They were something like 1/4” thick.1 point

I haven't kept up with these guys since 2017 when the keyboardist/fiddle took a hiatus. Things just changed with the sound and song writing. I didn't know he came back, I thought he quit. Which maybe he did. But he's back and apparently several albums I've missed. New drummer too which brings a different touch. Check out "Diamond." New guy gives it a punch. Anyway, here's the new one.1 point

My friends could not figure out why I would go see All Them Witches last year. The band is different from anything else we listen to. I like this new song.1 point

Post pics, wish I was down there this week. Btw. The GC near the mall sometimes gets in cool stuff. Once plucked a custom Dean out of there.1 point

I wish he'd go back to the Tokyo Tapes era white Strat with the rebar sized trem arm, it sounded better. Check out 9 min in, and 24 min, killer...1 point

RIP good man. The Silvertone amp I once bought from you now weighs a lot more. Thanks for your music expert advice on the forum that I always admired.1 point

He should have said, "Why didn't we think of that?" That switch tip looks cool and matches the knobs, sort of.1 point

^^^Excellent postulation. Its flat wide profile does make manipulation a lot easier, and I can visual that shape as something on the dashboard. Thanks1 point

I, for the record, don't think you paid too much if you really wanted it. Not trying to be a dick.1 point

Not anything close to a Chap expert but... I seem to recall Chaps initially were 24.75" scale and featured the top-mounted, Strat-style, angled jacks, 3 mini toggle switches and more steeply angled head stock. Around '88 they changed to 25.5" and side of body jack, 3 way blade switch, with the slightly less angled headstock (a la Cali) Not sure about the pickups. Kahlers were offered starting around '83 and were stopped in '86 though, they fulfilled custom orders w/ Kahlers until about '88. ETA, apologies for repeating most of what BillW already stated. D'oh! 🙄1 point

There's a black one that had a hard life early on. My buddy brought it back from the dead. It will remain as long as I do...1 point

Yeah, everybody knows. I'm keeping the two I have. Liquidating the Standards as I think my Ultimate's are some of the best guitars I've ever owned.1 point
