The person I bought this from on craigslist many years ago said this bass used to belong to Matt Sharp of the band Weezer, but he had no way to prove it. I didn't really care because I liked the bass. Upon getting home, I found Weezerpedia records that do in fact claim that Matt Sharp did play a stripped down Hamer "Chaparal" bass with whammy bar. That being said, there's no way to confirm. Just an interesting tidbit. The bass has been sitting in it's case for over 5 years. When I removed the cavity to put a battery in, I noticed some of the red wires from the EMGs have disconnected, and I'm not sure where they are suppose to go. So, I'm going to say you HAVE TO REPLACE ALL THE ELECTRONICS although I think a person just has to wire them back up correctly. The EMGs sounded great when they were connected and had EQ bands. Very nifty when playing live and recording. Everything is structurally sound, plays great, and has lots of life left. Just have to figure out the wiring or just replace the pickups. Needs two more control cavity screws that are bigger than original (two holes have been stripped out). Comes with the original hardshell Hamer case. $1550 SHIPPING INCLDUED via paypal. This is all very intriguing, but to the OP, I have frankly never heard "reminder of things to come". Maybe I'm too old or it's a regional thing. "A sign of things to come" is what I've heard. Or occasionally, "A reflection of things to come", but never a reminder.

I compare how much I've spent on guitars (which has been surprisingly small given the return on the ones I've sold) and it is *far* less than a speedboat, a vintage muscle car, or even the car I'm currently driving would cost new. Hell, my buddy has spent more on his snowmobiles than I have in guitars. These are all fair things to spend money on. If you earn a living, you should have some say in what the "living" part means.

I love my Hamers, but EJ Strat is absolutely best in the Strat category, especially the early ones.

So, I broke down and agreed to sell the two special DuoTones I still had. That gets me down apparently to just five. Newport with Bigsby Monaco Elite with Lollar P90s Monaco SuperPro....Custom order with korina, Lollar Imperials, F hole. 25th Anniversary Ltd Edition Artist Ultimate (Not counting a cheapie import set up in a faint tilt toward David Gilmour's Strat). Cannot think of too many reasons to cut loose any. Well, I probably will sell the Newport, but looking to do that locally. Hard to believe how many I once had!😉

Back in 2020 I bought a like-new 2019 Les Paul Standard Standard 50's from Guitar Chimp. I have never been interested in owning a Les Paul and didn't really have a practical use for one as I haven't played anywhere but Madison Square Bedroom since the mid-00's. That said, I have really enjoyed owning it and it sounds fantastic (to me). The only mods I've made were swapping it over to 50's wiring and installation of a Callaham locking tailpiece studs. This is the first guitar I recall having no desire to swap pickups. The Burstbucker 1 and 2 set really seems to me to exude that 50's vibe (IMO). ETA the requisite photo: Fast forward six or so years and I'm playing in services one Sunday each month. I am a Strat guy and I've been really enjoying playing my two Partscasters, primarily the Stretchocaster, which seems to do everything well (thanks to @cmatthes for even suggesting such a Gretsch / S-type mash-up). Last month's setlist was considerably more guitar-oriented, so I thought I'd try the Les Paul. The board settings for the electric guitar channel were set to what sounded good soloed and they worked great for either of the Strats, but the Les Paul was absolutely buried as soon as the band (two acoustic guitars, electric piano and drums) cranked up. I changed to a Strat and suddenly I was sitting perfectly in the mix. Switched back the Lester and buried again. No worries. I took the Lester home and hung it back on the wall and used the Stretchocaster. But I got to thinking. Then researching. Then I asked AI what I was missing. I was given the following changes to make in the EQ: Since I am running a Screaming Blonde direct into FOH, these changes were made in my board channel EQ. ETAA another requisite photo: Amazing difference! Subtle as they are, and they weren't radically different from where they were previously, the change is like night and day. Posting this as someone else might find it interesting and also with the caveat that, yes, I know AI didn't "come up" with any of this, but it sure beats me searching and compiling search results for 1,000 hours to come to the same conclusion. For those who have always played Les Pauls live, does this track with your experience? I know some of my issues were due to the mix of instruments, but the way it sounds now seems like it would work in any band setting. It just sits really present in the room.

Well put. It doesn't think, but it can do the searches you allude to incredibly fast and summarize results. The problem, of course, is the old Garbage In, Garbage Out risk of all computer processing. If all the search results it compiles were posted by idiots, the output will be idiocy. AI has great potential, but taking the next step of considering and maybe discounting the source will be harder than just scouring the web.

I've reached an age where I am starting to plot in my head that at some point in the next couple of years, I need to start doing what you've been doing. 47 guitars (9 Hamers for the scorekeepers) and assorted amps/effects etc all crammed into a one-bedroom condo has been great fun for me, but nothing goes on forever. At least the condo is paid for and I don't 'have to' do anything until I want to.

After purchasing and playing around with a couple Fractal units for a bit, I found I just don't care for their user interface or editing software, so I'll move them along. Fractal FM3 + FC6 - includes Faslink cable to connect them In original boxes inside the shipping boxes. Like new condition and reset to factory state, only got them out to try them etc. Will put a couple photos in. Fractal AM4 with power supply Also in original box in shipping box. Again, basically in like new condition, except for the original owner replaced the Level knob with a detented knob so it doesn't move unless you want it to. Original knob is in the box. Just tried it at home. This one I did buy used, so just want back what I have in it. I did create two patches each with 4 scenes, a Fender and a Marshall. I'll leave them on there. If someone's interested in picking it up and is in the vicinity, I'd be glad to meet up somewhere. I'm about an hour north of Baltimore and a little over 90 minutes west of Philly. Thanks, Scott

Big thanks to @stonge for facilitating this FB Marketplace transaction and shipping to me. I wanted a small/light dinker amp that is easy to move and this one (4w/10” speaker) sounds like it is going to fit the bill. You can’t tell from the pic but it is roughly 18x12x8. One EL84 two 12AX7 tubes. For “bedroom” playing I have mostly settled on LPD Eighty7 into clean amp in case anyone cares lol. Or headphones.

Could have been a box for a Vanguard HB. Same size, basically same guitar except mahogany vs. korina, and the finish. Did the box have a serial number on it that matched yours?

Good results! More than once I had someone come over to buy something, ask what else I had, then proceeded to take more. A few years back I had a young guy locally that went rather nuts on guitars Could barely play when I met him, but he got better. Over a couple years, he bought over $60k in guitars and related gear just from me. Pretty sure he spent even more on real high end guitars from others. I reckon that he shipped a good number of them to China through Hong Kong before they tighten things up. I could make more progress if Mr. Hong was still in a buying mood....😉 Yeah, I have a pretty weighty stack of amp gear, including several classic Mesa pieces, some Swarts as well as the (too many) cabinets I built. But it does not make a lot of sense to ship those heavy things.

To a non player someone that has many guitars seems excessive. This was expressed to me that I was a guitar hoarder. I explained to them I am not. First I let them know that I've been playing guitar for over 60 years. So some of them are sentimental, like my Bruno Conquerer that I played my first gig with at 12 years old doing my best to sound like Jimmy Hendrix. On a hollow body Bruno and a Monkey Wards Tube amp. Then I continued that I had probly owned 100's of guitars and these that I have had something special. Be it the tone the way they played, they where just better than the others that got moved along. Then came the "Why do you need a $5000.00 Dollar Guitar" I explained that I wanted to try it too see what all the fuss was about(Novo Miris J). Well it's gonna stay and Now I'm going to buy a Novo Serrus J. Why??? Because I can! My daughter inlaw just shook her head and left. She'll really never understand. But she gets that I'm not getting rid of any. Just adding! Any one else get the Why do you need so many Question?
