  1. Another thing about the Dumble is the inconsistency in tone. Sort of the Gibson of amps.
  2. Buy a Fuchs and save yourself $80k.
  3. Dasein's Jim O'Connor is amazing!

  7. Happy Birthday to a Great Human Being. Thank you for the photos, the humor, the expert advice and repairs. Thank you for the time you take, the sick custom orders and the coffee waiting at the door. Thank you for keeping the Mom & Pop Music Store business alive. Thank you for the great staff and feeling of being family when I've walked in the door. I think it's time for another pilgrimage to BCR.
  8. Any 4-digit 4 string standard Bass. Early Sunbursts Early 4-digit Standard Guitars

  11. Love old Sunbursts!
  12. When I was waiting to receive #0531 in 1980, I went to Sam Ash to buy a pacifier bass. This was a Precision Bass Special in LPB with a rosewood board and ash body. I rested my chin on the upper bout and played a little. The sales guy says "I'll get you an amp to try it with. I said "no it's fine, I'll take it". He looked puzzled, and I said "If it doesn't sound good through the wood, it won't sound good through an amp". I also think that the material a bridge is made of, how it is achored to the body, and how tightly the strings are secured to it makes a big difference in sustain. Also, how tightly the strings are clamped down onto the nut.
  13. Two words: Albert King
  14. I've got the DVD/CD set. I'd advise getting it. It's great to See as well as Hear it.
  15. Ok, only 'cus it's almost famous @ 1:56 into the PBS special: I present HSB #0531
  16. Well at least Nicki's good for bending over.
  17. Speaking of Phil Collins: The one thing He does exceptioally well is the one thing that he retires from....drumming. I just read the link about his "crushed verebrae". Really Phil? Really? Ok maybe it's true, but the worst news I read was this comment: But this is not the end of his music career, as Collins told fans: 'Don't worry, I can still sing.' Really Phil? Really? It's what destroyed your drumming creds.
  18. That's the Coolest thing I've seen in a LONG time!
  19. I ordered my Standard Bass with a Calzone flight case back in 1981. Then bought a new Hamer case for it from Greg at BCR music in Lemoyne PA. Still have that monster flight case, but got tired of the weight of it. When I bought the Standard 12 bass from BCR, the case was included in the sale. As Elduave said earlier, the case is included. It's a seperate listing on the invoice with seperate pricing. Probably because it's coming from an outside supplier, and not part of the guitars assembly.
  20. Antonio Carlos Jobim
  21. MC2: I heard the shocking news from Grace on Facebook. I don't remember meeting Ronni, but always knew about her from talking with Grace at the family get-togethers. I'm going to the wake tomorrow night to pay my respects and show support for family. I'm truly saddened for your loss. Jim Falco
  22. Could this be the motivation for the Scarab's lower body?
