  1. The build... http://www.ntlguitar.com/gary-moore-conv.html

  3. When Armadas show up used, I'm tagging one. USA Robin Artisan will be tough. There aren't many...here's mine.
  4. Five shirts and two pairs of pants for work. Socks and underwear too. DIdn't need shoes. Tax season is comin'. I don't know how this tradition started, but it seems to me these "presents" should just be shit I get shopping at the mall in January. My wife is so smart!
  5. My buddy Ian Anderson saw the band live recently. He only had positive things to say. But others said the singer is an idiot and he nearly ruined the show. Ian said Darren James Smith is actually very good and didn't have nearly enough practice time with the touring list. He talked to Jake afterword. Jake said judging the singer so soon was a mistake. Also, Ian said Jake's tone and execution was way better than on That Metal Show. He was using the three channel EVH 5150.
  6. I don't have problems with soloing too much in any key. I only play in penatonic patterns and know passing tones that work with major and minor chords in that key, if that makes sense. I really don't read at all. Some keys aren't, however, conducive to the most comfortable of my memorized positions. The guy that taught me taught me penatonics from each note of the major scale. Then, he taught me passing tones and scales. So, I just transpose what I know. Fewer open strings in some keys is, I think, the exercise.
  7. Amen. Beautiful tribute. Forever young.
  8. I owned this one for a while.......the knob config wound up being the reason I sold it... I might, however, have to have an Explorer.
  9. I don't know, but Gibson appears to be trying really hard to sell me a guitar.
  10. I pay more than most would for the guitars I buy. I'll have to keep them longer to enjoy a return on my investment. Thank God I could care less about that. Many of the guitars I own I own because I paid more than anyone else would. Kizanski will tell you that I'm crazy and pay crazy prices. He'll also tell you he'd pay what I pay to get back the guitars he's sold me. Some of 'em anyway. Buy high and never sell. That's my motto.
  11. Fantastic!
  12. Any pedal you like along with a Klon is just better.....
  13. Well then, allow me to now submit my order for a mahogany Standard done up in replica of the 4 digit on the cover of the Book, with the burst finish, poker chip toggle cover, bound, crowned but with a Floyd Rose, 24 frets, and reverse head stock. Mmmm. Make two of 'em. But make mine vintage original spec.
  14. I've amassed a guitar for every week (yes, it's a sickness), so it's my Ian Anderson Standard this week.
  15. Lab L-7. The worst sounding amp I ever owned. For a 4x10 with 100watts, it sounded tiny in the mix.
  16. I sold a fifties Hamilton watch in perfect working condition to an eBayer. About five days after the guy received the watch, he threatened a claim to PayPal and a return, if I didn't agree to a $300 "adjustment". It needed repairs I missed. No package damage. No proof of damage. I just paid the $300 because it was a 4K deal. He was full of shit. I'm certain of it. I should have kept the damn watch.
  17. Gary O'Connor....eighties cheese videos, but good songs on the entire record with most everything played by him....great guitar sounds and a little unknown Hamer content in the second video.
  18. I have owned six or seven of them. Serial's take on the pickups is spot on. I do, however, have a killer blonde California Carved Top CT-6 that I stole on another forum about five years ago. I intended to swap the pickups upon arrival, but the previous owner said he had them wind his pickups with Alnico II magnets. It's the warmest and round sounding of all the Carvins I've owned or played. Coil taps are, however, worthless (too weak). More important than the pickups having a "healthy amount of suck (thanks, Kiz)" is the horrible resale value. It's the one on the left....the other two were "dumb-blondes". Great to look at, but no personality!
  19. We're weighing a bunch of options, that one just happens to be readily available near him (he's outside the lower 48). I'm really trying to avoid buying and shipping a case to him first, though I do have a line on a universal TKL explorer case locally. How do you all feel about shipping without a case by double-boxing it? From what I've read it sounds like that means: prep the guitar (depending on who you are, that's loosening the strings or not, and maybe a slice of bubble wrap between the strings and fretboard) newspaper around the guitar wrap it in bubble wrap box it surrounded by newspaper or more bubble wrap so that the guitar is immobilized in the inner box wrap THAT box in bubble wrap to immobilize it and then box it for shippingI'm sort of a guitar-shipping newbie, so I'm not really sure what's "enough". That's how I do it. Never ever had a problem.
  20. Just got mine! Haven't read it yet, but flipping through the pages I know it's going to be great. Definitely a labor of love by all involved. Thanks.
  21. Hopefully, I won't be on my death-bed and realize I could have seven or eight minutes more if I'd not clicked on the video above.
  22. While I take your meaning, that's some choice wording right there. Yup, I'm the hydrant on this one.......
  23. I'm buying a set of these for my next project. I love Zen's right hand. So many guys can play the notes, but the right hand is what separates the men from the boys. Fantastic.
