Point of information: a standard Tele neck pickup ≠ a Danelectro lipstick pickup. Very different construction. Tele (under the cover): The Tele pickup is of similar construction as other Fender single coils where the polepieces are magnets and the windings surround them. Danelectro lipstick tube pickup: The Danelectro pickup is a bar magnet surrounded by windings, shoved into the lipstick tube. Hope this helps. Please take this in the spirit it is offered and not as an attempt to bust any chops. Oh, and a true lipstick tube pickup would be splendid in the neck position of a Tele, but would require a good bit of "customizing" of the pickguard. If you found a ready-made pickguard for a Strat pickup in the Tele neck position, the Seymour Duncan lipstick tube pickup would fit as it's just enough smaller than the original (Danelectro) to fit in the standard Strat route / pickguard. I had an original ('56) Danelectro pickup in the neck position of an SG back in the mid-80's (the pickup, sans mounting bracket, fit exactly into the "ears" of the humbucker route and was held in place by the humbucker pickup ring). Made for a really great neck tone. .

Doesn't the adjustable hex poles on both coils in that vintage = Super Distortion? Had a pair of those in my Gretsch Beast BITD.

Did Eric Clapton finally find his way to happiness
velorush replied to Disturber's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
He seems perked up a bit since this: Give him a break. He, like me, suffers from "resting curmudgeon face." "Jeff! Smile!" "I am smiling!" I had a boss one time in a yearend review tell me, "You know, it wouldn't hurt to let people see you smile once in a while." OTOH: Ringo is killin' it these days! -

I resemble that remark. Except for the "he can play" part. Other than that, I resemble that remark... -

Same here. What is particularly unnerving is I was aware of Hamer BITD, but I had no idea where to buy one or how much they cost. I could easily have had a Hamer for what I paid for some crappy 70's Norlin Gibsons back then. One of the drawbacks of growing up in the sticks. -
What @bubs_42 said. He’s much more up on all the nuances and what sounds like what. I just know I really liked it. Both I owned were the PC board versions. The first was a Blackjack 21 head I picked up used at GC. It had some problem I don’t recall, so I returned it. The second was a Lucky 7 combo I bought new from GTRDaddy. It was unbelievably loud and sounded very much like the 21. The clean channel was great. The gain channel was likewise great and had more gain on tap than I would ever use. EQ controls were extremely effective. The coolest thing to me was how I could set the amp for the highest gain I’d need, then every shade was available directly from the volume control on the guitar. Another thing about Andy Fuchs: there was a conversation early on about the reverb or something (?). Mr. Fuchs insisted I send the chassis back to him. He fixed whatever it was, but also added upgrades that he’d come up with since it was built, all at his expense. Great company.

Random (Music and Guitar Related) Thoughts Thread
velorush replied to LucSulla's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I don't know, the execution is absolutely abysmal, but a 34" scale baritone would be a force to be reckoned with! -
I haven't owned many amps at all, but the two Fuchs amps I owned (briefly) had the most absolutely thick clean tone I have ever heard out of any amp ever, whether I was playing it, someone else was playing it, live, on a record, anywhere. So much harmonic information coming out of the speaker no overdrive was necessary. It was an amazing experience. @bubs_42 got me started down that rabbit hole. I have been tempted off and on to pick up one of the first version Blackjacks (single channel) as I didn't see the need for the OD channel.

Back in the '80's my brother-in-law was for a time running the tractor that was all the rage, the Steiger Panther (for its day, an absolute beast of a tractor). At the time I briefly considered refinishing my Charvel in their trademark green (kind of faded in the interweb picture I found). The Ibanez Loch Ness green was/is much better and continues to be a favorite. Both guitars look fantastic!

TV Jones has provided a really cool opportunity to try out a set on the cheap with their "Brushed Nickel Sale." They had some gold covers that didn't pass QC, so they brushed the gold off leaving a brushed nickel finish and they're selling the results cheap. For example, a bright nickel Classic sells for $147. The brushed variant is selling for $109.90. Power'Trons and Setzers are just a bit higher, but still dirt cheap for a new pickup. They look cool in a relic sort of way: At any rate, here's the link: Brushed Nickel Needless to say, no affiliation (I wish!), just really, really like their pickups and know some on here do, as well.

PSA Top Hat Emplexador combo $1300

Had it been local to me I couldn't have resisted either. Not aware of a Top Hat ever being local. But then again, outside of deer, possums and skunks, not much is! 🙂 -
I bought a Red Witch Fuzz God here some years back. Loads of different sounds and they can be had relatively cheap and sold for the same (if it isn't to taste). If you really want radical, I've got a Black Cat Monster K Fuzz I'd part with (cheap, no, really...). I bought it here and like most everything I own it never gets used. It had an issue when I first got it so I sent it back to Black Cat who repaired some component that had gone bad. I tried it out a bit and it went back into its bag and that into its box. It offers a ton of flexibility including absolute insanity. If you have an expression pedal it really becomes another thing entirely. Here's an example (from the "Slingblade" soundtrack): Lots of switches to tame it down, too.

From Seymour Duncan: Yep. Black and White together or, more conventionally, Red and Green together.
