Jimbilly Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I did pretty well: An '89 Cali in early spring (dots, EMGs, all stock), and an '85 Cruise bass a month or two ago. In the NHC realm, 3 Ibanez: an '07 BTB Prestige 5 string bass, a '77 Challenger 4 string bass (jazz style), and an '83 Roadstar ii RB335 guitar. I didn't intend to find 5 keepers, it just sort of happened! 14 Quote
ZR Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Nice. I always liked the Ibby Roadstar series, underated. 6 Quote
Disturber Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 1988 Hamer Cruisebass, all black. I love the original Dimarzio Hamer Slammers in this one. 11 Quote

The one on there looks to be a OFR. Edited December 28, 2024 by diablo175 2 Quote
hamerhead Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) That Cali looks great! So does the Cruise. Congrats to both of you. No new Hamers for me this year. The four I have left are apparently holding their own.....but if the right T-51 and/or Duotone came along..... I did snag a Korean Epi LPC and a Mitchell MS450 while on a cheap Les Paul bender. Both are waaay better than expected. ETA: I almost forgot my wife got me this bitchin' Les Paul..... ...tree ornament for Christmas. Edited December 28, 2024 by hamerhead 1 3 Quote

HSB0531 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I think the two Hamer basses I would want if I bought another one are the 1982-88 era Cruise, or the FB4. I'd love a 1977-79 Sunburst, but it would almost never get played. 2 Quote

Apparently the binding was done a few times, I'm not sure if it was a repeated custom feature or just something they did from time to time. Quote
velorush Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Haven't considered it until this thread... Other than a vastly overpriced box of strings bought in support of our newly-reopened local mom and pop, I haven't bought a single thing. Wow. Don't know a year that's happened since around 1982. Good grief! Satisfaction? Contentment? 2 1 Quote

Not sure if you like to pull up on the bar to raise the pitch of strings but be careful with that set up- those longer string bolts extend over the pull-up cavity. You'll chew the finish up and possibly dent the wood. 4 Quote

It had it's share of nicks and bruises. But as it is black it was easy to fix up with a black marker and nail polish. A new back plate for the control cavity is on the way from fretsonthenet Frets are good and she just had new strings. The sound is tight, quite snappy and articulate - but still woth a killer low end. Not so much a dub or reggae bass, more of a rocker. But my old Yamaha bass is more loose, so I am well covered. 3 Quote

LucSulla Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 This year, from the Hamer realm, I bought these two Tallys. Also bought a Heritage H353 and have a Jackson MJ Series Rhoads RRT coming. 12 Quote
wil50n Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Just bought a NOS 2004 Monaco Super Pro yesterday. It'll be here early January. The shop (in Perth, Western Australia) has other NOS Hamers from the early 2000s 9 Quote

Steve Haynie Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 In 2024 a 1978 Peavey Deuce combo joined my collection of amps. A Boogie TransAtlantic 1x12" wide cabinet also made its way to my house. 2 Quote
ZR Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I had a Peavey Classic 2x12" combo both vt and vtx series from that era. The vt I sold to a friend back then who I just visited after 40 years apart and he still has it - works perfectly too! 46 years old, not bad!! Quote
diablo175 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I can tell you what DIDN'T get brought home (or more accurately, what was NOT delivered- 3 times!) My custom ordered Attila Iceman was due in, right around Xmas. They missed that deadline no less than 3 times. It's still not accounted for. The CSR supervisor I spoke with last night suggested that it might be lost. Fuck you very much UPS. 4 Quote
Jimbilly Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 I got a couple of awesome amps too: a '68 Univox U45B (10 watt ish tube 1x12 combo), these are really cool. Also this '56 Silvertone 1331 (very similar to a tweed champ). The Silvertone had been sitting for decades, a friend coached me through a recap and 3 prong power cord upgrade. It's a super cool little amp, and a good reminder to watch craigslist about as often as you can, - you gotta be first in line for this sort of deal. 9 Quote
