I've seen some videos circulating lately of April Wine on stage again. Turns out they are touring with Triumph, which is actually only Rik Emmett with touring members, most notably Phil X . I haven't watched any of the videos or April Wine yet because the only thing I can remember about them is I always regretted buying their album(s?). I can't remember how many I bought, maybe only one. In those days the selection of good music was small and the itch to buy a new album always won over the little voice saying, "This album is going to suck, but buy it anyway." I honestly can't remember a single song they made. I do remember that maybe one song on the album was barely listenable. This got me thinking about some other bands like this. Starz was one. Angel was one. And April Wine. Triumph on the other hand, lots of fond memories of them.

Anyone here like April Wine back in the day? Any songs memorable? I can't think of one. I may break down and watch a video but I fear it will change my YouTube algorithm. I've been curious about things in the past and I click and watch maybe 30 seconds and decide this is not what I'm looking for and suddenly my page has at least 20 suggestions on the subject. I hate it when that happens.

Loved April Wine! Loved a lot of albums and songs, from Roller which was a real rocker, to I like to Rock... always loved the end where they played the Satisfaction riff, in a round with Daytripper and other parts of the song on the fade out (if memory serves me correctly!). I even liked them all the way to The Nature of the Beast album with their biggest success on the charts.

I thought it was interesting to have Phil X playing with Rik and Triumph, another band I liked, but it made more sense to me when I found out just yesterday that Phil took Riks place in Triumph around 1992-93.

I just saw Triumph with April Wine in Atlanta.  Rik Emmett and Gil Moore are at every show playing the whole time.

Brian Greenway is the old timers in April Wine with a history going back to 1976.  He was part of the classic lineup.

I like April Wine, and have three or four of their albums.

I like, and recommend, Starz.

I didn't see Gil in the videos I watched. Unless he has a Flux Capacitor. If it was him, he looks younger than Phil X. I also heard the promoters / managers keep piling on more shows which made the old timers grumpy as they hadn't signed up for that. I think it was supposed to just be a select number of smaller venues but when they all sold out they booked bigger venues for more money. Not sure if my information is correct. But, the ticket prices have about quadrupled compared to the more affordable tickets in the beginning. I never got to see them back in the day. The one time a friend and I were going, he said he'd drive up to the local record store and get the tickets. Well, he procrastinated and didn't and when we got to the venue, it was sold out. We tried crashing the gate and went up a stairwell. At the end of the stairwell was a full bar that was closed. One guy who ran with us stayed there and bellied up to the bar helping himself to some liquor. My friend and I still tried to get in and ended up in the lobby but he chickened out and we went home. Sad night and I never got to see them.

I haven't tried it but isn't Private/Incognito mode on the various browsers supposed to prevent information from being hoovered up by websites?

Hmmm.... Good point. After I screw up my algorithm everytime I just wonder why I didn't log out of Youtube and search as a "guest." Just never occurs to me until it's too late.

The first song I ever played and sang in my first band was Get Ready by April Wine.  There are at least thirty really good songs on the albums I bought.  Myles was one of my favorite singers and he was a sneaky good guitar player.  Don't make me make a list...

I still dig April Wine. Check out this take on King Crimson-

And then there's the 3 way jam in Roller that is as tasty as it gets, in my humble opinion.

they've been showing up in my youtube feed too, it must be their turn.

The arrangement of I Like To Rock is really impressive.  it's nice to see them getting some attention, I admit that I was mostly unaware back in the day. I actually sent the youtube link for I LIke To Rock to my 18yr old daughter, she thought it was cool.

Harder Faster was in constant rotation on my 8 Track player back in the day. I Like To Rock is a fun tune.
