MR714 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 A co-worker stopped in at the Guitar Center in Arlington Heights, IL yesterday. He told me they had a purple Hamer with a Floyd and boomerang inlays. Those three pieces of information were enough to peak my interest. I called them and stopped by after work tonight. Sure enough, they had a 1986 Chaparral Custom! The front is rough & dinged, but the neck is like butter. The best part was that I actually got it for $350!!! Yeah, tree fiddy!!!
Guest big steve Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 i have the lefty version of that same guitar! good score!!
DavidE Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Perfect score!I'd be pissed except that it has a Floyd. I hate Floyds.
MCChris Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Very nice. I got a similar tip about a Hamer for sale at a little record store near me, but it was only a Slammer Series Diablo (also for $350). Never hurts to check.
RacerX Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Good score there, and right in my backyard...Dagnabit! I was about 5min from there yesterday test driving an old 911... Oh well, enjoy that one! Mark.
holLoWskull Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 <sigh>seeing that guitar makes me miss the purple pearl Californian Elite I foolishly let go. Thanks! Congrats on the guitar...who says the days of Hamer USA bargains are over!
Guest big steve Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 MR714,got your pm,if i have something i'll let you know.thanks!! steven. (my pm reply is not working for some reason)
straightblues Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 You gotta love Guitar Center. If there used stuff doesn't say, Gibson, Fender, or Marshall on it you can always get if for a steel. I can't tell you how many used guitars I have bought from them over the years to just turn around and sell right away. I have done it at least 20 times or so.The last one was a Chandler Lectroslide. I bought it for $100 did a setup myself, then sold it for $650 two days later.
