First two shots are Armitage's but the others do not look like any I have seen from him. I thought Armitage lived near Toronto. I call BS on this guy if he is in your town call him and string him along REAL Bad for lifting photos. :):D

Not Right.

Seriously?...Oh man this is gonna be fun...I'll try to contact him today.

Is it odd he has 400+ views after only one day posted?

Aren't these Armitage's guitars?

Thats the first thing I thought.

I thought so too - that Mockingbird is very similar to his - plus I know he has LOTS of great guitars!

Cheers,

B

I'm really curious to hear what you learn, cspot. I'd be interested in knowing the guy's name.

Please, just let us know how it ends after contacting him. Some killer axes on those pictures, though I think I've seen some of those before.

Guys, I made a screen saver on my work PC with all of the pron you guys have put up over the past year or so and I know this photo is one of them:

No idea whose photo it is, but I got my copy from the HFC! I absolutely recognize the BC Rich, followed by the Ace Frehley Washburn, the Destroyer, followed by all the Standards - in that order! This is either one of us, or somebody is using one of our photos to scam.

Edited to add: I haven't been able to find the exact photo, but guitars at the Armitage Gear Page seem to line up with this group.

Well still no word from this character, but did snoop around a bit and found this http://www.geartalk.com/forums/members/zsl...jaxcalgary.html

looks like someone else is calling him out! Scam-o-rama?

Over the years, I've run into a few ads (mostly CL) that I have a feeling that the poster DOES NOT own the advertised instrument.

Either I reply several times and get no reply, or I get a reply but then it turns into some really weird fiasco where I never get to see the gear. Alternatively, I see these give-away ads that people post that must attract tons of responses. Maybe I'm getting paranoid, but I also swear that people post under-valued items to use as a bargaining chip. I kind of happened to me once, but I have no way of proving it ... I advertised for an Ibanez SZ720, and another ad came up with a price 50% lower than mine (odd that it was EXACTLY 50%). Then a couple days later, I get an email from a guy and he makes me an offer quoting that ad.

Mostly it's I reply several times and get no reply. The only reasoning I can think is that they did this to get peoples real email to sell as a list to spammers. I don't know if you realize this, but spammers buy email lists, but they will pay more for email that WORK (yes spammers are smart, they can check these things).

I don't do this by the way, I'm a network admin in real life so I keep on top of the darker side of the internet in order to better protect the network.

I have responded to his ad, twice from two different e-mail address. I've specifically asked about three guitars in my pictures, things that are not in his... the Ace, the Vandenberg and the Deans...

If he says he doesn't have them anymore (whatever), well he's just an ass showing off... if he tries to sell them to me, I'll get in touch with the authorities.

Be careful if you respond to any help wanted ads on CL. A LOT of spammers offering bogus jobs there to get email addys.
