cmatthes Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I snapped this one at the factory last month...
Shark Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Aah great. My first full view .... Worth the wait ;-)Thanks for all the compliments.
Rebeka Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Very cool I do not need a custom Hamer, I do not need a custom Hamer... If I say it enough, maybe I can keep resisting
specialk Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Congrats to Shark on a great c/o! I can't think of a thing that would make it any sweeter. Thanks to all for posting the pics as I don't have a FB account.
David B Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Got Damn!Does it have black fretboard binding? I can't tell.
marcnorth Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Friggin Awesome!!!! Congrats Andre, I like the sharkfin inlay and the white w/black binding.
tommy p Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 The Great White of basses (the instrument, not the fish). Totally badass.
Shark Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 While we are gawking tell us about the electronics. Well is a quite simple setup Vol (split p) / Stacked-Vol (X2N) / Tone So bass is totally passive now. For havin the chance to go active someday with the pickups or the electronics I ordered an empty battery compartmant with routing as the the FBIV electronic cavity is real small with no extra space. Got Damn! Does it have black fretboard binding? I can't tell. Ebony board. No binding. But hoped it would look like a black binding with the ebony board and it seems it certainly does ...
Shark Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 That's just amazing. Many congrats to the incredibly patient Shark, two years woulda killed me. Kudos to Dave for another custom success story. To be correct if it makes it to Germany in mid december it is only 22 month But yes. Asked Dave / Hamer in November 2010 if they are willing to make a FB8. And sure. Many thanks to Dave !!!
Caddie Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Your custom order took 22 months. The gestation period of an Asian Elephant (the one with the smaller ears) is roughly 22+/- months. hey, I'm just sayin'.......caddie
jisham Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I came back to see it again. Definitely one of the coolest basses ever made IMO. You and Dave hit that one right out of the park.
bcsride Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 very very very very very very very very very nice.(I struggled in sophomore composition)
gorch Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Damn, I'm late in here. That's freaking fantastic! How did you survive the wait? I was just creating ideas what to talk about at the next Musikmesse in March 13.
elduave Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 Quick and dirty from last night, informal jam with a couple of my teachers and a customer. All 3 pickups wide open, preamp overdriven on purpose. Once I experimented with the volumes, I found the bass sounds ENTIRELY different with the split pickup by itself (warm thick fuzz), and the tones out of the X2N's one at a time were very cool too (like using a solo bucker-very useful on this bass). Rolling down volumes had very pleasing clean up, and reigned in the monstrousness of the sound quite well. I actually didn't want to stop using it for a long time, which is rare for me with a multi string bass. Played very well on the neck (easy).

Let's all say it together... "DIBS!"
