Steve Haynie Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 So, what happens to the mistakes? A nice piece of maple ought to be salvaged into something.
NEWMAN60 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Stop taking pictures while things are spinning!!
cmatthes Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 NEWMAN60 - I'm looking forward to seeing some of YOUR handiwork too!
veatch Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'll take the old one. I'll even put a "Shit Happens" inlay at the twelfth fret... Oh, and great work, as always. I *love* seeing this stuff.
hamerhead Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Jeez a solid maple Cali is just salt in the wound, isn't it?
HamStd Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 That's a nice looking piece of wood. That's what she said...... Sorry couldn't resist.
marcnorth Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 That's a nice looking piece of wood. That's what she said...... Sorry couldn't resist. I saw another nice looking 4 digit piece of wood over on The Last Bass Post last night. He didn't say who he got it from but I know it was one of yours. When are you going to cut loose a nice 4 string short scale? I know you've got some in your stash.
Thundersteel Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Is it possible for the current Hamer builders to form their own company, and lease the equipment to build Hamers full time?
cmatthes Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 That's a nice looking piece of wood. That's what she said...... Sorry couldn't resist. We can ALWAYS count on you, Peter!
burningyen Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I'm not a figured maple guy, but that is just insane, wow.
Hamersaur Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I love this thread. Thank's to all for the photos and updates. That Cali is just friggin awesome. When you guys finish something like that, do you feel a bit of regret (for lack of a better word) in seeing it go? To me it looks like you guys leave a little part of yourself in every build.
specialk Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 To me it looks like you guys leave a little part of yourself in every build. No, I'm pretty sure they still have all their fingers. Great stuff! Thanks for all the pics.
Boomerang~Junkie Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 EVERYTHING about this is amazing - just wow.
DBraz Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 What a beauty. And to think this will be one of the last Cali's ever made
Steve Haynie Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 To me it looks like you guys leave a little part of yourself in every build.Maybe they can leave a hair under the finish.
coolfeel Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 There will be pools of BLOOD if this STC is not done next week. It WILL be UGLY! For you D... Good golly Miss Molly - that Standard is fricking insane!
Bobby Marshall Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 If there is one more cali after this would it be possible to make the angle on the bottom of the board match the neck pickup route? Or is it the flaw that you have to put in it to be true to the (native) American heritage?
