cmatthes Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 One pickup Ultimate.... hmmm?? That was my ORIGINAL order, but that would have taken it a bit outside of the regular specs for the Ultimate run. There's always a possibility for a future order! I couldn't be more happy with the version I DID order...
BTMN Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Ultimate Korina body, Trans Amber Clear, Wraparound TonePros or Sustain Block Bridge, Bridge position Cream covered P90, Rosewood board Dots, Klusons. Done.

scottcald Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Those guitars look awesome and they're not finished yet! I thought that neck pickup may have been the secret new wood fiber pickup from Shishkov R&D. ; )
Hardrockracer Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Hi Mike, seeing those pics especially those where the necks are shown it reminds me of a question I sent you as a PM and never got a response. While I know that you are extremely busy because a lot of Hamerites are waiting on their Shishkovs I still want to post my question from the PM here as I am really anxious to find out:I had a similar discussion with another ex-employee of Hamer but couldn't gather all the info I was looking for. Maybe you can help. I understand that the neck pocket in Hamer (and also Shishkov) guitar bodies are routed flat meaning that the neck pocket is not routed at an angle relative to the bottom. The angle for the neck pitch is actually routed onto the neck heel using preset fixture. How does that exactly work and do you have a picture of this fixture since I assume you have your own for Shishkov Guitars. Thanks,Hardrockracer
cmatthes Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 This isn't an uncommon practice, although as you mention, many builders rout the angle in the neck slot, rather than the neck heel. I'm not sure how well I can describe the jig here, but basically, it is built with guide rails at a pre-set angle. You insert the neck, and the router glides along the rails and puts the angle on the neck heel. It's done the same way with the neck slot, but in reverse. Not sure if that makes sense or not, but it's a pretty simple process.
Hardrockracer Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I should have told that I build guitars myself (well, not as a professional). The reason as to why I asked is that I would want that info (description and even better, pics) to build my own jig. I also think this way it would be a lot easier than routing an angled pocket into the body as this would require an even bigger jig that holds the whole body. If you picture an explorer type body this might not be the best option.@cmatthes, thanks for the description with the guard rails but I cannot envision it in my head how they look and how the routing process goes along.HRR
