motorpriest Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 On the other hand, nothing can prepare you for such a thing
Sugartune Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Oh, that's unfortunate. The "Retard Posse" graffiti on the back seals it.
mc2 Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Man, if that one could talk.Sure looks like it's had an active life.
kizanski Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 $2,500 + $75 Shipping. Funniest thing I've read all week.
gtone Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Jay/Murkat could rescue that puppy and restore it to its' former glory methinks...
crunchee Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 $2500? Only AFTER repairs, a de-Kahlerization, and a proper refin, and MAYBE some motivated buyer will buy it.
DaveL Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 well, it does have the warranty card, is it still covered? lol
ARM OF HAMER Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Is that a neck repair? That is a neck crack that needs repair! That is a guitar that needs repair!
Disturber Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I have a faint recollection that that one has surfaced here before, many years ago. But I can be wrong..... It just feels very familiar. Hard to forget something that ugly.
Hfan Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 So what's worse..one that has been put in a display case, rarely played and is pristine or this one that has led a rock and roll life?
crunchee Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Is that a neck repair? That is a neck crack that needs repair! That is a guitar that needs repair! +1! That is a guitar that needs a luthier...and whoever is responsible for the atrocious condition it's in, they deserve to be 'fixed' BY Luther and a few of his friends.
kizanski Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Jay/Murkat could rescue that puppy and restore it to its' former glory methinks... Wanna bet?
ARM OF HAMER Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Greg/BCR Music...................."Murkat" both have seen some nasty stuff as far as broken or altered guitars. My conclusion is by the time you bought this one and spent the money to bring it back by either of those expert repairmen[And those ARE the guys you would want to do it] you would have a TON of $$$ into it and then the guitar would still never be original................. a huge investment with zero returns..........................Walk On.
carfish7 Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 If it is playable as-is, the next owner (assuming someone is that foolish with their $$$ or can get it for a decent price) should just roll with it and call it "mojo".I agree with the above - you'd have to be a fool to spend the $$ to get that thing right again, unless the idea of a 4-digit is THAT important to you or there is some sort of "noble purpose" involved, like the NEED to save a historic piece of gear. Someone should just play the thing and honor the history it has. I mean, it has been brutalized and then some, but I don't hate it, but I'm irreverent like that.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Please, if you have a weak stomach, be prepared. 0697. Someone needs to honor the request as posted on the upper bout.https://reverb.com/item/836221-hamer-standard-1983-customHuh. I didn't realize Diablo175 ever owned a 4-digit standard...
ARM OF HAMER Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I don't believe anyone here would feel that a "DECENT" price will be available for this guitar.............the seller thinks he has something..........and he does.........A Mess! ...........what used to be a great guitar.Don't get me wrong................ I love the "MOJO" of a old beautiful care worn guitar, but this guitar? thats abuse and carelessness.
The Shark Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 We ought to get fifty Forum members to put up $50 each and have a funeral for that friend. I'm thinking cremation. A little lighter fluid and a match. Time to put it out of its misery.

mc2 Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Looks like a pro headstock repair to me......glued AND held together with some stickers "just in case." I actually like that guitar. It's been PLAAAYED....and then some. If it plays good, I'd just leave it as-is.
