Who needs clean when you've got a stupid-loud shit-nasty midrange crunch? Love it! My stupid V managed to work its way into the picture. I'm gonna have to slap it around a bit. I warned it.

jisham Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 I've been through more amps in the last two years than I care to admit, from Mesa to Line 6 to Krank and alot in between. But I've finally found "my tone" with these currently in my stable:Peavey JSX and XXX 412 cab: band use.Reinhardt 18 Watt head and THD 212 cab: home use at this time.Behringer GM110: den/headphone practice amp.
bruce919 Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Genz-Benz 30/60 ElDiablo head w/ Marshall c212 cab loaded with Marshall/Celestion Heritage Speakers. The more time I spend playing thru this amp the more I like it. On the clean channel you can turn up the preamp so it gats a nice gritty tone , the The Hot channel has just enought gain. Its an amp that sounds good at low levers but crank it up a a bit & it TONE Heaven. I still Have my Mesa Trem-o-verb thats an amp I will keep until I die. It is in dire need of a new set of tubes so it has not been on, in a few months. There on my list of gear to get in the next few months. I also have a Little Marshall JTM30 1x12 amp. These things get a lot of bad press due to there history of the transformers blowing up. I have had mine for about 10 months now with no issues. It a great little amp. The lead channel is where it really shines. It also has the Marshall/Celestion Heriatge speaker. The best sounding speaker by far that I have found.
ZR Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Jaye,What's your band situation now? What do you like about the JSX over the others you've tried? Hope things are going well for you!
Guest teefus2 Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 main stage amp is a rivera bm60 head with two avatar 1x12 cabs. one cab has a weber michigan and the other has an emi red fang. open stage amp is a totally hot-rodded pv classic 20 (tungsram tubes and a weber alnico blue pup). on the way is a valvetech custom (2xel34) head. can't wait.

jisham Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Jaye,What's your band situation now? What do you like about the JSX over the others you've tried? Hope things are going well for you! I just joined a classic rock band that steadily gigs so I'm happy...my whole "thing" is playing live so it should be cool, although I have almost 60 tunes to learn ASAP. I'm digging the JSX because it's not a one tricky pony and you can coax all kinds of tones out of it. It sounded fantastic with my previous metal band but I like it even better for the classic rock type stuff as I've backed off the gain in the Crunch and Ultra channels considerably. It's also EL34 based and I'm just totally digging that sound more than the 6L6 based amps I had before. The clean channel is outstanding with headroom for days and days. And it's the first amp I've used recently without an EQ in the loop. I'm not running anything in the loop as a matter of fact and have sold off all my rack fx too.

sw686blue Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Currently I have a 5150 head running through a Marshall 1960A. I also have an Ampeg SS70 (solid state) amp that I've lent to my niece to use. I'm planning on selling the 5150 and Marshall cab and replacing it with either a PV Classic 30 (with teefus mod) or a Valvetech.Decisions, decisions...Nick
