Hi Hamer buffs, I'm selling my Hamer Standard Korina. When I bought it about 10 years ago, a luthier replaced the (IMO, unattractive) gold hardware with OEM chrome. It comes w/all the original hardware, tone/volume knobs, and the stock, Seymour Duncan '59 pickups. It currently has SD Distortion (bridge), and DiMarzio Air Classic(neck). It's in great shape except for a scuff, and chip on the heel. It comes w/the hard case. It's two pieces of Korina (if you look closely, you can see the seam down the centerline). I tried looking up the serial number to determine when Hamer manufactured it, but since Hamer doesn't exist anymore, and the serial number doesn't follow the guidance I've found on the Internet I don't know for sure. I think it might be mid-1990s. I've never weighed it, but it's hefty, I'm sure weighs as much as a chunky, Les Paul. $1,300.00 plus shipping.

What's the serial number?  If it starts with a "5", then it's a 1995 build.

I agree with you about the hardware replacement.  Nice guitar!  I'm too late to even get in line, I expect.  Congrats to seller and buyer.

Hi all, thanks for your comments. The serial number is 543031 039, so it appears it's 1995 vintage. I'm sorry to disappoint everyone, but I think I may have under-valued the guitar. I want to be fair, but I think it may be worth more than I realized. I'll talk w/my luthier acquaintance and check eBay, online, guitar classifieds etc. and see if I can find more info about Standards' pricing.

Its your guitar so you can do what you want with it but In fairness to the people that PM'd you to buy your guitar at your sale price.............. you should have done your homework on those things you mention BEFORE you listed the guitar. Credibility is  polar north on this forum.................. just saying for future reference.

+1 & And "try" to communicate to those people after they PM'd you numerous times waiting throughout the day for a response only to be denied... <_<

BTW, I normally would care less however, this was for a friend that is now thoroughly bummed...

 Bad form...

No reason to believe it wasn't an honest mistake. It was likely our fellow forum members making side offers for more money that tipped off the OP he'd made a mistake.

I like that you had the decency to own it vice just going radio silent and leaving us to wonder what happened.

No doubt you'll still work out a deal here that's fair to both parties.

No, you do your research before you post something for sale.

Honestly though, I don't know what's worse... telling a kid she's not getting her Pony or a grown man he's not getting his Korina Standard?.. :P some people just don't have that kind of money and was extremely excited to now be able to own one at a affordable price...

Raise your hand if you'd take $500 less for any of your guitars for any reason.

Yeah, he f'ed up but did the smart thing by pulling it and let everyone know why. As much as it sucks for potential buyers, wouldn't you like to find out before rather than after that you left considerable money on the table?

Bad form? Maybe. Smart? Definitely.

You can't see me now but my hand is raised, :D if I had a price in my head and "was good with it" and took the time to post it on a forum, I would stick by it... I've done it quite a few times..  & at the very least, answer/communicate after reading people's numerous attempts and not potentially wasting multiple people's time/hopes... he is not a newbie and this is not a newbie mistake...

I might add that this isn't about me, "I already have one" It just saddens me that I couldn't come through for a friend...

I tend to slightly over price and then come down slowly... just in case someone falls in love.

At least fucking Brent is gone forever from here.  He'd have found a way to chisel the price down somehow and would have shamelessly tried to flip it for 3X the asking price within 60 seconds.

The OP could have as easily said "Guys, I fat-fingered the price and didn't proof-read before I posted. Sorry, but there's no way I would sell it for $1300." and that would've been that.

But, Cynic called it above. Dude probably got 5-10 PMs saying he had under priced it and offering him more for it. Like it or not, there are some members of this forum with extremely deep pockets, and you'll have to get lucky to score a desirable Hamer like a Korina Standard for anything less than going price. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it's becoming increasingly rarer now that Hamer is out of business.

And some people live by a different code of ethics... what's the point of having a WTB section if members don't practice common courtesy & social etiquette and decide to backstab and f@#k each other?
