Basically a McCarty 594 with stainless frets.  I guess Joe asked for them?  Up until now, I've heard Paul poo poo them in interviews, but now that a celebrity endorser said they're good, Paul will think they're awesome.

If someone craves a great singlecut 594, sans stainless and the JW signature, and also without half the quoted cost, we could talk.......😏

No fret binding. That's sloppy.

That's to hold cost down.  We know the main concern of the PRS buyer is affordability.

I never appreciated the bird inlays, “old school” or otherwise (“Is that my money flying away?”).

I think it would look better with Hamer Victory inlays!

But no first fret Victory.

and only if they’re centered...

Joe, for gosh sakes, please...just shut up and play.

Is it just me or is Joe starting to look like the Donald?

As for the PRS, kick ass guitars. Mock them all you like, but they kill. Fuck fret binding. Nibs suck. Fret over binding is the only way!  I love the McCarty SC 594. It's the best single cut solid body I've ever owned. I believe Paul Reed Smith consistently makes some of the best guitars available today.

If I could cash out like that on my name, sure I would. Joe has endorsed so many guitars and amps over the years. Has the $ to play whatever he wants.

Signature models like these have no appeal to me if the price is jacked-up mostly because of the endorsement. Same for relic guitars with a big up charge , relic it yourself by playing it.

I would like a Santana model if the price was reasonable for what you get. My natural Studio Custom is a way less expensive equivalent.

Couldn't he have at least done his signature, "How ya doooooon?"

No mocking here. Just not interested, is all.

Wasn't he playing a Keisel/Carvin type of similar thing?

Yes. If I remember correctly he was an early endorser/user of the CT6 California Carved top when Carvin first introduced it many moons ago.

In '05 he was playing a Carvin CT-6M double cut California Carve Top.

ETA He also went back to Gibson around 2010 and did an R0 signature model if IIRC.

I've seen Joe a bunch of times - he usually switches guitars around a lot during a show.  The last 2-3 times I've  seen him, he's actually played a PRS SE (Import) for several songs.

Last time I saw him I think he played around six different guitars.

Yeah, I mean, frets over binding has certainly worked well for C.F. Martin & Co. for... how many years now?

Still, this has me a little confused: "McCarty Sunburst, Gloss “Cracking” Nitro "

Does that mean it comes cracked, or that it WILL crack soon after you get it?

I own a few PRS guitars and love them.  Not mocking the build quality, just Paul's penchant for declaring something unnecessary until a celebrity says it is.  I feel pretty certain Joe is far from the first person who has asked for stainless steel frets.

I hear ya. I'm not so sure he's saying it's necessary so much as granting an artist's request and knowing his fans will buy them. I'm quite certain Mr. Smith's mind has not been changed.  I seriously doubt he'll start putting SS frets on the rest of the core line.

ETA: He's only having two hundred made anyway.

I am given to believe it is expected to "age' over time. Look at it as a positive......No need to pay extra to make it a relic! 😏

Look, PRSh is a major marketer. Seems pretty damn good at it. Every 3 months or so there is a new "latest and greatest, best thing in the history of guitars" release, usually touted by Paul hisownself and/or talented PRS employees. Sometimes a celebrity endorser. Usually, they are in limited quantities and designed to get the fan boys to shell out for the (fairly) exclusive right to own one ASAP. Predictably, they will hit the markets for a lot less used when those same guys trade up to the next latest and greatest. Which is a much better time to buy unless you enjoy paying a premium to own the latest toy. Further, those that really excite interest will almost always end up in a larger "core" production run (slightly less unique features) at a more popular price. Even later, as a lower cost import version.

That is NOT to say they are not good. It is NOT all hype. I currently have an even dozen PRSi (many more have come and gone since 1991) and think they are all excellent instruments. I know some will disagree, but I think the ones built in the last 10-12 years are head and shoulders above the earlier ones in multiple ways.......Better pickups (to my taste, at least) and better finishes. The latter might be otherwise described as "less of a thick glopped on plasticized finish that looks great but kills tone". IMO, of course......

Scale length. 24.594

??????????

Yes. Many exceptional Lesters from the '50s apparently weren't all 24 3/4" scale as advertised. It's been said that a lot of the ones with that extra bit of "mojo" actually measured out a bit less than 24 3/4", and as I understand it, PRS has experimented with various measurements taken from those guitars and settled on 24.594" scale for the most recent McCarty models. There may indeed be something to it. These McCarty SC 594s play and sound exceptional. Having owned multitudes of LPs, I never bonded with one as much as I have with my McCarty. What's interesting to me, is every McCarty 594 I've played has been incredible, not a turd to be seen so far.

This will sell out rapidly, even at $6500.

I saw that video, and Joe is not the most eloquent guy sometimes. I knew what he was trying to talk about, but I kept thinking that if he posted stuff on TGP like the way he talked, they would be on him like a pack of rabid hyenas. Sure enough, took a look over there, and they were all over it. 🙃

Love my 594's. Singlecut with SS frets & brazilian board sounds very interesting. Hope they make it as a non sig model. I'd get one. Like I need another guitar.
