stonge Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 A friend had a spare ticket to see Kingfish last night (if you remotely like blues he's a great show), and he allegedly uses an mxr sugar drive which is another klon clone. I spent today dialing in my tumnus deluxe to approximate his tone (minus 99% of his talent lol). I'll be interested to see how the clones compare to the tumnus. In the Sound City documentary, Dave Grohl talks about Lee Ving of Fear and says "that voice... comes out of his face!"; every note that Kingfish plays comes out of his face. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else who was so totally in touch with (or lost in) what he was playing. Amazing...

1 bottlerocket Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 I bought a silver, no horsie klon in Japan for what I thought was an insane amount of money at the time, 800, and then I bought a KTR when those came out. I still have them both and regularly run them against the latest Klone offering. There's a guy in Brooklyn, Tony Balls, that makes a Klone and so far it is the best that I have played. I am still waiting for the Chinese knockoff to arrive but the videos look promising.

That would be exactly two weeks from pressing the "Buy" button.

Guitarseh Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 Mine arrived today, only had time to plug it in for 30 seconds to make sure it works, but got pretty good sounds with no tweaking. Will try to wring it out a little more tomorrow. Looks exactly like the one cmatthes posted, including the pink foam and rubber adhesive-backed feet.
