LucSulla Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Could be because I had such low expectations, I don't know. These kinds of vanity projects are always so polished and perfect that they just has no life. However, I've really enjoyed spinning Orgy of the Damned the last few days. Probably the worst thing about it is the title, tbh. Demi Lovato's vocals are just killer, and I thought the Chris Robinson song was pretty damn fire too. Whole album is good IMO. 8 Quote
diablo175 Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Love the remake of The Pusher!! Loved that song back in the day and this is solid tribute to it. 1 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Got that 70's vibe down... thought I was listening to Shaft for a second Quote
Disturber Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 When I read about the idea of him making a blues album, and saw the list of blues standards he had chosen I thought "that was not a very interesting choice, this will probably be a running through the motions album of worn out classics." But I liked the first single with Brian Johnson, a nice surprise. And I gave the whole album a spin the other day. It really rocked. Great sounding album and Slash does not play his usual licks. His playing feels fresh, albeit it being blues playing. All singers are fu*kin' amazing. Chris Robinson really takes it to another level. He seems invigoured and pulls of something I have not heard him do in years. I will for sure buy a copy of this album. 1 Quote
donner Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Allright, chaps, CD ordered! Now it better be as y'all say. Otherwise I'd have to plead for some REAL nasty new emojis in our stable here. 😎 5 Quote

bruce919 Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Most of Slash's solo / collaboration albums are great. I still listen the Slash's Snakepit & the Miles Kennedy records on a regular basis. I don't buy as many as I have in the past but I still buy the CD's as well when I want an album. 1 1 Quote
donner Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 (edited) Compared to what artists get monetized from themselves for being progressive estimating streaming vultures, I do prefer not to. CDs are still a better earn for a person creating good music. In those terms fairer as a business model., too. Aside therefrom, my CD-player wasn't cheap, either. Being old school isn't always worse. The CD is useless to me because I'm just going to rip it to my computer/phone/iPod anyway. I'm just skipping a step and saving space. I don't need these CDs and cases around anymore. 3 Quote
donner Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 (edited) Well, you gotta have some space to fill, that's true. CDs are the least. Edited May 21, 2024 by donner 7 Quote

Have a CD shelf like the one you have there with about 400 CDs in it, and aside from when they were ripped to my hard drive, they've not been opened since. Coincidentally, it is conveniently positioned above the cabinet which holds the stereo equipment which hasn't been switched on in at least 15 years. 2 Quote

My Stereo rig on the other pic is conveniently mostly „on“, as in „heavy rotation“. Quote
Jakeboy Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 (edited) I love everything I’ve heard on this album thus far. Beth Hart killed Stormy Monday and the Lovato take on Papa was simply fantastic, as was Slash on the track. I do agree with @LucSulla on the title….it doesn’t fit the content…but maybe that was the point…who knows? Edited May 21, 2024 by Jakeboy 1 Quote

His collaboration album- R & F'N R in 2010 was the tits! 1 Quote
velorush Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Have enjoyed what I've heard so far. Been too deep in Curtis Mayfield for too long and when I saw "The Pusher" I was expecting "Pusherman" (off the Super Fly soundtrack). 😐 A friend was over at the house a month or so back. He DJs and was talking about his CD collection used to that end. He left with every single CD I own (haven't been touched in going on ten years); 200 - 300 CDs. He now has tons of music he didn't have, and I have a massive amount of new space! Did the same with my much smaller album collection probably ten years ago. Fidelity this-fidelity that, give me Spotify Premium! Quote

Jim85IROC Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Yup, love the album. As a Peter Green fan and also a huge Stapleton fan, I can't get enough of Oh Well. As a whole, this album doesn't sound like a rock guitarist stitching together some "paint by numbers" blues standards, this is obviously music from someone who knows the blues and wanted to honor it. tommy p Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Finally listened to it today. Definitely will again. Quote
DarkHammer Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 'Papa' song and video were really good. I'm looking forward to listening to the entire album this weekend! Quote
