  1. And again, this is just a perfect custom order. Gorch, you appear to have all of the suitable gear to bring out the best in this gutiar, so I think you should keep it. Zorrow's gonna' run it through a Pignose simulator or something ridiculous.

  2. ...continued as for forum limits. Now from the back. Connected! Sound's like a real Red Special to me. Very nice too, the original style head with locking tuners. The guitar perfectly stays in tune. Sound makers. Burns Tri Sonics. The guitar plays great, sounds exactly as expected. And certainly looks killer. Doesn't it?

  4. Feynman, I bet if I lent that thing to you, you would do like Prince and smash it to little pieces, right? Or just play it for a couple of days and then sell it.

  5. Sorry for late posting. I had a hard father's day yesterday and I'm still recovering. Well, I've done my job and opened a bottle of good red wine to celebrate the box opening. Here it goes... Tasty red wine first. We want to enjoy. Wait! What's in there? Look at that. Black nose appearing. This is already telling a story. Hard shell case in V shape. Safely packaged. Eyes wide open. This is it. Out of the box, next to the Bo. To be continued...

  6. In my excitement to finally be able to post, I forgot to mention Mike Shishkov in my initial rant. Mike, who has been a Hamer Master Custom Order Builder expert for over 20 years, has had quite the ride the last five years. Five years ago when they announced that Guild was coming in, they pulled the Hamer guys in and dispersed us out. Because of Mike's talents as a builder and a leader, they designated him (Imprisoned him) as the boss of Guild's final assembly department all this time. A while back they let him out of his cage and for a brief time he helped Dave on some custom orders to help move them along. But then Cheap Trick's world was rocked! Disaster struck and some of Mr. Nielson's famous Hamer guitars were hurt. Ironically, none of his other brands were hurt that we know of. Four guitars came in that needed attention. By the way, the tension of spending rare labor time on a valued, long time, paying fan's custom order versus labor time spent on the one and only infamous Mr. Neilson's (who by the way I have never seen or heard from in the last ten years I have been working here even though we've worked on many special projects for him that have been thrown at us last minute that I'm sure hasn't forced him to use the dollar menu at McD's) works of art has been an awkward situation. Anyway's, his Monaco Superpro with the Beatles graphics came in. I replaced the harness because of moisture concern and it went right back out. His checkerboard Standard came in with a broken headstock which Mike did his magic on. They wanted two copies made, but we were only able to make one copy. Actually, it was a 70.45% copy. We couldn't reproduce the skull volume/tone knobs and all the Japanese jizz on the finish. The Uncle Dick double neck came in because they wanted a copy made, Mike took all the specs and we sent it back. He did all the wood work making a duplicate body and the two necks an it has just been sitting because of the the current situation (You know). The 'Gonna Raise Hell' Standard came in. Gary sprayed some clear over the headstock because it is flaking so bad. We made one copy. He wants the tremolo replaced on the original. The copy is at my station waiting for the rest of it's journey. The original is at my station waiting the rest of it's journey. Maybe we should call in Steve Perry to help. Mike is also doing invaluable work on the Guild Custom shop line at the same time as the Hamers and running the Guild final dept. How much can one guy take. The other day I said hi and he said %$##@#$%%%%$###$%%$##@#@#$%%%%$$#@#$%%%%! Bm

  7. Diablo, I forgot to send a note along because I was rushed. You wanted two springs with a spongy feel and we only had 3,000 springs from Chicago to work with. Two springs and the claw jammed against the cavity couldn't bring down the tremolo flush when tuned to pitch. I put three on, and I sent an extra so you could find some heavier alternative. If I spent time outsourcing heavier springs, I would have been spotted. The pickups that I put in were on the custom order spec sheet, so I ordered those. I almost put EMG's in. But then again I would put EMG's in anything heavy. I even put EMG's in my ice cream at night. I can't believe how patient you guys are. After placing an order, the next day I'd be calling the rep. "Hey where the F**K is my axe!?" Bm

  9. TA-DA!!!! My custom order is done. This is a dream come true, something I had always had in mind and never had the chance to get it built -had previously contacted RS Guitars and they wouldn't do it. But thanks to gorch here, I finally found the right builder to make me this, exactly to my specs -chunky neck and 24.75" scale included. Please, meet my Scheithauer Mayday-V: Now it's done, ready to get shipped to me. But I guess she will spend some few weeks at gorch's in Germany first -still have to arrange this with him, as he seems now not very sure about it. In any case, I can't wait to have it in my hands!

  10. Which makes me want it even MORE! The Chandler and cash for the Robin........... If you're talking about the Kizanski Signature Series Robin Avalon Custom, it would have to be A LOT of cash! ...and before you even shoot me a number (I know you got it like that), don't tempt me. The guitar must stay with me. You know where to find me, my friend! I am a bit "tapped" after snagging Kashola's Vee, but I do have that coffee can in the side yard......

  11. Based on this I'd avoid him. Every deal I've entered with so much back story has turned into a problem, whether it being shipping delays, overstated condition to flat out never shipping the item. His life is in turmoil and you are low on his list of issues to get to. I was thinking the same thing as I read it. Agreed. I would avoid it.

  14. I just received a Ebay message from the seller. He's will to sell it to me for $850. if I make that offer. However, when I check Ebay, he has a counter offer pending with someone that he previously declined. I didn't think you could solicit and offer when you have one pending on Ebay, but, then again, I'm no expert on Ebay. Here is the seller's email to me. Thank you. If I don't sell it, maybe I will repost at a Buy it Now for $850 and you can purchase it? Or, if you can go to $850 I would sell it to you. Please remember, ebay is going to gouge 10% out of the price AND the shipping! I am in a bind and need the money, or I could wait for a higher price. I have been victimized by predatory lender that are trying to steal my home and land and we are in the final rounds (hopefully), which will include me pressing criminal charges. Because of the time I've had to spend doing my own legal leg work, I've not been able to work. You contribution would be to an excellent cause. I have dug up several cases where these same white collar criminals have done this to several homeowners and I have a meeting with the DA on monday. Just to let you know why I am forced to sell at this time. Thanks again! Never a dull moment.

  16. Gorch: You are a skiful teaser. I can't go "schwing!!" like you guys, but this certainly got me excited, is really a BEAUTIFUL instrument. It's just a perfect V Red Special. I just hope zorrow will let me touch it and play with it...

  21. Yes Diablo that's what the sheet said. Glad you got the trem the way you like it. That's the biggest thing. Like power steering. David Barker, I'll check on that. As a side note, I'm usually on-line Thurs-Sat. Unless there is a sale on Bud.

  28. As of letting Dr. May to know about it, the following pictures lead me to think he might actually like my guitar quite a bit: What is funny is that my RS-V idea dates from at least 1990, and I didn't know May had used a V as a backup but until a couple of years ago. Also, not so long ago I noticed he was playing a V on the Princess of the Universe video -I think it was Ana who made me notice so, actually: I asked about it here and was told it was a Washburn-something he grabbed around to avoid using his RS on the clip. So, I guess my Mayday-V will make now much more sense to everyone... even to the man himself!

  30. I know I've already weighed in with my praise, but I'd like to add that this is one of the coolest custom orders I have ever seen. Zorrow, you got everything just right. I'm officially envious, and I don't even like Vs.

  31. It really does. Someone needs to get a pic to Dr. May somehow; I'm sure he would get a kick out of it. - Austin I've sent a pic of mine to Brian's Soapbox last year. Pete Malandrone replyed that he liked it and would show it to Brian when there is time. I've never received a second note. Anyways, I'll go and tell you guys how Zorrow's guitar rocks when it arrives. I've got cold feet taking care of it before Zorrow even touches it, but now can't wait for the arrival. What an honor!
