  3. So, I broke down and agreed to sell the two special DuoTones I still had. That gets me down apparently to just five. Newport with Bigsby Monaco Elite with Lollar P90s Monaco SuperPro....Custom order with korina, Lollar Imperials, F hole. 25th Anniversary Ltd Edition Artist Ultimate (Not counting a cheapie import set up in a faint tilt toward David Gilmour's Strat). Cannot think of too many reasons to cut loose any. Well, I probably will sell the Newport, but looking to do that locally. Hard to believe how many I once had!😉

  4. I've reached an age where I am starting to plot in my head that at some point in the next couple of years, I need to start doing what you've been doing. 47 guitars (9 Hamers for the scorekeepers) and assorted amps/effects etc all crammed into a one-bedroom condo has been great fun for me, but nothing goes on forever. At least the condo is paid for and I don't 'have to' do anything until I want to.

  5. From his son Michael: As many of you already know, my father, Wayne R. Charvel, passed away peacefully on Sunday. My father was unexpectedly rushed to the emergency room. It was completely unexpected, and everything happened so quickly. I immediately flew to Arizona to be with him, and our family was by his side. On Sunday morning, while I was holding his hand, my dad peacefully went home to be with the Lord. It still doesn't seem real. Many of you knew him as a legendary guitar builder, craftsman, and musician. I was blessed to simply call him Dad. Of everything he accomplished in his life, what meant the most to me was that he was a loving father. Our only focus was spending every possible moment with him and supporting one another as a family. Because of that, we weren't able to let everyone know right away, and I apologize for the delay. Thank you to everyone who has called, texted, emailed, and shared your prayers and kind words. They have meant more than you know. I may not be able to respond to every message for a while, but please know that I truly appreciate each and every one of them. Please continue to keep my mom, our family, and everyone whose lives Dad touched in your prayers. Rest in peace, Dad. I love you, and I will miss you every day.

  7. Do you think if Hamer USA had lasted another 10 years, we might find more interesting things to discuss?

  10. Big thanks to @stonge for facilitating this FB Marketplace transaction and shipping to me. I wanted a small/light dinker amp that is easy to move and this one (4w/10” speaker) sounds like it is going to fit the bill. You can’t tell from the pic but it is roughly 18x12x8. One EL84 two 12AX7 tubes. For “bedroom” playing I have mostly settled on LPD Eighty7 into clean amp in case anyone cares lol. Or headphones.

  11. It's come full circle... Reminiscent of early 4-digit Hamer Standard models—which were originally inspired by vintage 1958–1963 Gibson Explorer 🤣 $7,500

  19. Plural character is determined by proportion: Pants are comprised 79.6% by the two legs (52.3% for 7" shorts). A Shirt is comprised only 17.3% by the two arms (25.4% in the case of a long-sleeved shirt). Thus, the majority of Pants are a pair, the majority of a shirt by a single item. Plural is established for the pants but not for the shirt.

  20. He really did make some interesting guitars in the years after he sold the company to Grove Jackson. I still remember how gutted people were when his home burned in 2018, as it contained a lot of truly unique items, and also probably pretty much meant the end of his guitar building days. When you lose all of your stuff and equipment its hard to start from scratch in your 70s.

  21. Closest I've ever been to having a Charvel is one of these, Wayne-designed. Interesting guitars. Looks very much like this: Not sure how long he lasted there, or if it was just a contract gig, or what the real story was with them. He certainly had a profound effect on the guitar world. When I worked in a store here like 25 years ago, we had a 'Wayne' guitar that was covered in a shell material. I remember it being rather cool.

  22. No my posting is still there... it's titled "Perfect for your Partscaster" (although I accidentally made a double posting & got crucified for it)🤣... I bought 4 of these but bought them through Home Depot when they had a sale "because I also had a 10% military discount" on top of that... I think they're absolute great cases, especially for the price 👍 I also made a posting when I bought them, to show the different guitar fitting

  23. I checked the pups in my son's SG which I really like the sound of and they are custom buckers. It's a long Tenon model but I don't know what year it is. The pups are original to the guitar. I keep trying to trade it away from him, but he knows he's got a great player!!

  24. No Affiliation Never even heard of such a unique spec, and not sure how it would sound compared to stock (spruce over hog). Cool! https://reverb.com/item/99618968-hamer-custom-shop-newport-pro-2003-amber-52665-with-original-hard-case

  25. Thinning the heard and this one is next. This is a great example of a 2020 Les Paul. This one has a one piece body with nicely figured maple cap in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. The following mods have been done. Kiss My Strings zamac tune-o-matic bridge, a very well made bridge out of Germany. Mojotone '59 Clone PAF style pickups that sound great, as well as PIO caps. Original bridge and pickups included in sale. Overall in great shape with some minor signs of play wear, but overall in excellent condition. Includes original case. True LP non-chambered weight of 9.5 lbs. $2000 + shipping from 01060. Obviously if you're somewhat close, I'm happy to meet up in person.

  27. I just picked up a couple of these sets, besides being a pretty good deal on these strings, (<$7/set), they throw in a 10' D'Addario 1/4" cable. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NYXL10463P10--daddario-nyxl1046-nyxl-nickel-wound-electric-guitar-strings-with-10-foot-instrument-cable-010-046-regular-light-3-pack Free shipping in CONUS, too. 😎

  31. Exactly. And exactly as it would have been presented in in the fraternity house TV room, 1985, 2:00 A.M. with an unmistakable soupçon of a Columbian brush fire in the air. Absolute and completely made up but presented with such complete and unassailable confidence that no one would ever question the veracity. Absent Internet, one could typically get away with it. 🤣

  39. Yeah, I've looked into that. I have the schematic of Peter Frampton's pickup configuration. I may try it especially if the pickup swap improves things. Or, I may just wire it up like a two pickup guitar and disconnect the middle.

  40. Beautiful burst! Love my '19. IMO Gibson really got their act together on these. If you check used prices, this is quite a deal even before upgrades. No way I'd take that for mine.

  43. Watched this last night. It was pretty interesting, especially the noise floor comparison. [HEY! IT APPEARS THE PREVIEW DISPLAY IS BACK ON SHARED YOUTUBE LINKS! HOORAY!] I didn't even know Positive Grid made an interface and was excited at another possibility, but when he demoed it, I saw that it had the same feature as the Spark Amp I find so desperately aggravating - the noise gate. Also presented grounding issues. Go figure. Pretty settled at this point on the iRig HD X. I'll probably be ordering that today unless someone has a better idea.

No Affiliation, but lots of drool. https://reverb.com/item/99252198-hamer-custom-shop-monaco-superpro-2007-transparent-black-55378-with-original-hard-case This is a custom Monaco (F-holes), not a SP, as described right? Either way, add it to my list of dream Hamers!
