A nice Jewish boy decorated in metal/emo wrapping paper interpreting 1980’s British music like a gospel singer delivering Broadway tunes in a Vegas drag show. It's so obvious - Duh!

(And my banjo-playing-traditional-bluegrass-loving wife thinks he is awesome. THAT I don’t get it.)

Really annoying. He's getting worse. Kris is tasteful, he gets my vote. (I actually wanted Allison)

Totally unheard of by me.

That guy who's name you won't remember 12 months from now.

...a much better singer than I am.

...a very good replacement for Axl Rose.

...most likely the next AI winner.

That's right. Not just Axl, he can cover Robert Plant, Steve Tyler, Mickey Thomas, and probably Freddie Mercury. If you examine the actual vocal qualities of Plant and Tyler cutting through the mix and going for the high notes, they don't have the most pleasant vocal qualities either. Whether he's to your taste or not, a rock vocalist with Lambert's range, control, and power doesn't come along too often. I count maybe 8 in the last 40 years (i.e., Plant, Tyler, Paul Rodgers, Mickey Thomas, Axl Rose, Bobby Kimball of Toto, Lou Gramm of Foreigner, and Freddie Mercury). Lambert could be one of them.

For a vocal interpreter, I like Danny Gokey and Kris Allen much better. Gokey can rock out at least as well as Huey Lewis but with more range. Kris is an excellent singer when in his zone and could be an excellent arranger/producer. But if you want somebody to rock out in front of a band, it would be Adam.

Edited to add:

Isn't Adam Lambert what GnR fans have been waiting for--an Axl Rose who shows up on time, sober?

He's a cross between one of the backstreet boys and Axl Rose - all the vocal ability in a saccarine sweet innocuous non-threatening safe little package. Sorry Johnny but comparing him to Axl, Plant or Tyler is blasephemous. Thomas, Kimball and Graham maybe more appropriate.

I agree with Johnny here. Adam Lambert, whether he wins or not, WILL be known a year from now and you will probably be sick of hearing from him (in a good or bad way depending on how you feel about him). I agree that he can too often go for the big high voice thingy he does but his quieter vocals are really quite amazing as well. I think when he starts doing his own stuff he will be even better. Anything he does now will always be compared to whoever originally sang it which can bias the critic. There was a few times, however, when they said what song he was going to sing (such as "Ring of Fire") and I thought "oh no, he cant pull this off" but he did - in a very original way!

He has the stage charisma and looks very comfortable up there; he could front a band today. I'm sure the AI ppl are just salivating over all the money this guy will bring in!!

Very talented guy. He is a standout & should probably win. I would give most anything for pipes like that.

I hate him :lol::) :angry:

The new TV GUIDE came in the mail today so I was able to determine who he was; didn't know before that perusal. "American Idol", as well as "America's Got Talent", is simply "Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour" w/ fireworks and confetti.
