Interested in any trades?

:D

Seriously - very cool guitar. Is it chambered?

What does the spruce top add to the sound?

What does the spruce top add to the sound?

A certain "spruciness", perhaps?

Actually, I'm not sure about that myself, which is why I was curious to see whether this was chambered. I know on other models where I've played the spruce topped version right next to a maple topped version, the spruce has a more spongy, responsive feel - the attack is certainly articulate, but things seem to be a bit absorbed at first, a rounder or "blooming" sound if that makes any sense at all. The maple topped stuff seemed to be more focused and tighter. I know my adjectives are kind of obtuse, but I know it when I hear it!

The guitars I A/B'd were Spruce v. Maple topped Monaco 3s and Newports. Not sure what kind of a difference you'd notice on a Standard, because the construction is drastically different and the top is considerably thinner over a solid body instrument.

Oddly enough, when I saw that one, I thought "Bruce919"...

Have you any chance to picture a "BIG CHUNKY NECK"? It doesn't come out in the pictures at the top.

Man . . . there's something about that Standard that makes me sick with desire . . . and I haven't wanted an Explorer type guitar since I bought my second new axe back in '78 . . . . ! Don't tell me it has a huge neck - my gear card is cracking in half!!!!!!

This one is too unique to let it go to eBay. Nobody's interested? Really?

Had I not just bought a Soloway NYA, a Malinoski Rodeo and a Snider Chicago . . . . . seriously, somebody needs to keep this baby in HFC circulation.

I have to hide those pictures from my wife, as she could end compulsively purchasing it... just because it's beautiful and the price is low. :)

No, seriously, she loves Explorers! :o

Keep the threads alive and be patient. Hold out until next spring. You are not the only one with gear that is not moving right now. A lot of us would like to own either one of those Standards.
