I've had my Rocktron Multivalve multi FX rack unit for many years. I've never been tempted to switch...yet! It's like a Replifex but with a 12ax7 tube you can run the signal through to warm up the signal (it actually works). I need to swap out the tube and see how it changes things. I haven't yet because they put that white/clear silicone goop all over it so it makes it hard to get out!

I prefer running amps at full tilt, getting power tube and some preamp distortion.

However, this isn't always practical, so do like to use a good booster/distortion to get lower volume breakup.

Otherwise, I'm an absolute sucker for Phasers if Pink Floyd/Hawkwind is on the brain.

Here's my current pedalboard set up:

OD/Booster - Don Butler Rangemaster and Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive

Wah - Budda

Chorus/Flanger - old MXR Stereo chorus and reissue ADA Flanger

Delay - Line 6

Phaser - old block MXR 90

Misc. - Boss tuner and EB Volume

That's this week!

I can't always open up my amps so I use a Keeley modded TS-9 or Fulltone OCD depending on my mood.

OD/Booster: Xotic RCBooster-killer, transparent.

Wah:Budda Budwha-nice 'gulp' and 'eeommp', true bypass. Ubervox...

Chorus/Flanger: Foxrox TZF-gets the grind, nice chorus/leslie, too.

Delay: Line6-very versatile, maybe TOO versatile. Lotsa fx.

Phaser: MXR Phase90/EVHPhase90-oldskool swirl.

EQ:N/A

Misc (any other notable mention):

Yamaha DGStomp-once you tweak it, VERY cool modeler. Records really well.

Boss TU-2/EB Vol.

Here's some of my favorites. In the misc. dept. I've added my Guyatone WR2; it is to envelope filters what the ADA Flanger is to all other flangers.

OD I like the Barber Direct drive and the Maxon OD808 used in tandem like the fulldrive or something, so I think of mine as one 2 button OD

wah Tesse RMC3

chorus Rockman stereo chorus 1/2 rack size module

delay I use an old Washburn analog delay right now, used to use and still own the Rockman stereo ech (I love the Sholtz time based effects, not so hot on the distortion generators)

phase 90? I don't use a phasor, how bout the one built into a 70's Peavey amp LOL

EQ Boss GE7

VoodooLab Procatavia and Boss OC2 are my other picks

Give me a two channel amp with good basic tone, add a compressor and I'm good to go.

Nice to haves include reverb, delay and wah.

Rotary speaker is my favorite modulation effect.

Here's my current board, wah-less for the first time in memory. Haven't been using it much except for tonal colors, and the new GE-7 with Sniper mod takes care of that so...

P1010105.jpg

Timmy set to high gain for heavy OD, Comprossor for clean country styled stuff, DD5 with tap, Sniper GE-7 (a GREAT bang for the buck pedal), TC Chorus for the Floyd / spacey stuff, EB Vol, Tim OD last in chain set for clean boost...

The Kingsley boost pedal came with my amp and is killer for lead boosts, punch chords, etc too.

On the way to the PO to pick up my Zendrive, which will replace the Timmy for awhile at least....

Nice board! I would like to hear how the Zendrive compares with the Timmy. I love my ZD and I am thinking about ordering a Timmy.

Here's my ghetto board. I'm lovin' all these boxes:

pedalboard.jpg

Am I the only one or does anyone else get dizzy looking at the pic of MCC's ghetto board? Must be the angle of the pic! Dude, were you hanging from the ceiling? Whatever you're smoking, I want!

Hey MCC, are you sure that's your board and not this guy's?

Tube Works Real Tube. Get one on ebay for $80.

DigiTech Bad Monkey is a steal.

Those two I implement in combination with Boss ME 50 multi-effects. I play all 3 at low volume. The two former effects have the gutsiest, bluesiest sound I have stumbled across.

Aphex Exciter and BBE Sonic Maximizer are also a good combo investment to kick up quality of tone.
