No, its is actually "Dragins", they just spelled it wrong to mess with our minds.

It sounds like Cheap Trick jamming with Ozzy Osbournes backing band.

I'm not a big fan of when the whole mix is compressed to death like this - it gives me ear fatigue - the loudness wars thing - but it gets a popier feeling when Robin's signing. And the vocals are mixed very loud on top of everything, not drowned down in the mix. So sounds pretty okay to me. Doubt that I will buy the album though, not my thing.

I don't dislike it, but I don't like it enough to buy the album.

It seemed pretty cool - I like Zander on this actually...Some of my guitar buddies are really into it...

I agree with Disturber though, the mix is a bit shitty for my tastes...

I'm less meh on 2nd listen, and we'll see what the record brings.

I pretty much like anything that Robin does. Disturber hit it on the head.

Definitely not badlands.

Too mushy of a mix for me. If that had been less processed/less produced, it could have kicked significantly more ass.

Yes. I tweaked it a bit with VLC player EQ, but, to be fair, I would like to hear the full, uncompressed track cranked.

I like the idea of this band. Lots of talent here, but the mix didn't do Jake any favors.

Think I'll buy the cd and see if it sticks on the wall...

Yeah, don't expect proper quality from a YouTube clip.

Like Rob, I'll probably take a flyer on this when it comes out. Same with the Lynch/Pinnick/Lazier thing.

Put me in the "meh" camp as well. I dig Jake's playing, but agree the modern "mix" (mash?) is tiring and the sounds all become indistinct.

Of course, I may be officially a grumpy old man at this point, so........

Robin sounds awesome to me especially considering his age...

Totally agree. Most rock fans don't cite Zander as being "up there" with the pantheon of rock vocalists (Stewart, Rodgers, Ann Wilson, Mercury, Marriott, et. al...), but I think he is, hands down, one of the greats. He can scream, croon, sing ballads and do great harmonies.

Not too shabby a songwriter, either.

There seems to be a lot of that going on now. A product of the computer age?

Yes, definately. You sit there infront of the monitor and move stuff around. It's too easy. Usually not for the better. Ahh, that snare hit is 0.00002% off, let move it. Lets quantisise the whole track.

I listened again and it sounds like its done with Guitar Hero in mind. I like it more organic most of the time.

Sampled the whole album Via iTunes. I'm digging it, some really good stuff. I can take or leave the live performance though. I would like to see Jake Live.

Not necessarily top-shelf, legend-making material, but I really like it compared to nearly all of the contemporary hard rock stuff being released now. Jake sounds laid back on this track, and I think that fits Robin's vocal style. I actually found the guitar and vocal elements far superior to everything else in the mix (seems to be a common convention of ProTools users).

Gotta say, Ozzy did well in choosing Jake, even though their partnership only lasted two albums. The guy has great blues metal chops, a blistering tone, and was almost refreshing in the wake of Randy's death. Hell, who else had the stones to rely solely on a 70s hardtail Strat and an SG junior during the height of hair metal? Zakk and Gus, on the other hand, while technically strong, have (IMHO) added little worth remembering to the Ozzy pantheon.

Look forward to hearing more of this release.

My buddy Ian Anderson saw the band live recently. He only had positive things to say. But others said the singer is an idiot and he nearly ruined the show. Ian said Darren James Smith is actually very good and didn't have nearly enough practice time with the touring list. He talked to Jake afterword. Jake said judging the singer so soon was a mistake. Also, Ian said Jake's tone and execution was way better than on That Metal Show. He was using the three channel EVH 5150.

jake is suffering from inadequate prep in two documented instances now. He blew it on that metal show. I wonder if he even attempted a think through of his segments. he oversaw live show prep in perhaps a rushed fashion and made some bad choices (and I'm not suggesting that hiring the singer was necessarily one of them).

Not ready for prime time, but certainly worth a listen,,and rooting for him. They should work in some beggars and thieves songs.
