The Shark Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 If I don't, it'll make my stock plates "rare"! Late to the party again (a little Shishkov humor). I'll take two...
Shark Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Any bass plates available .!I mean for Cruise, Chaps etc.
RichRS6 Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Hi Shark.Yes, so long as the logo physically fits the backplate it can be done, there may be up-charges for special orders.Let me get the first batch sorted first.
mc2 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I'd take a few, depending on what other models they'd fit...especially basses.
Thundersteel Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Well, sure - they're the same plate. In that case, put me in for two.
Tres Aardvarks Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I'd be up for one or two for a Cali and Chap
RichRS6 Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 I got the sample this morning and it looks great. I'll take some more pictures asap and get them posted up tonight. The covers are black anodised aluminium with the logo etched into the cover so the silver shows through, hard to see as it looks white how ever i photograph them. Not sure if the originals were etched or screen printed but the etching is to a very high standard, looks great and will never wear off. The price for the initial run will be $50.00 inc P&P (unless you're on the moon) I can get other backplate shapes done for other Hamers but this will have to be a special order atm. This will include a $4.00 donation to the server fund for each one sold. Last original ones I saw (a set actually, not sure what the other cover had on) was for sale on ebay (forum user peedenmarks7) and went at BIN of $110.00. There is (of course) one slight hiccup......... The guitar I intended to put the first one on, Standard No 0316 has a slightly different shaped backplate and these etched plates will not fit although it fits my other Standard No 0346 perfectly. It also fits my 78 Sunburst, 79 Sunburst, 80 Special and 90 Sunburst with Floyd perfectly. I think this is due to Hamer changing the materials used from plastic on the earlier Standards to the Aluminium used from the introduction of the Sunburst. Either way it's no biggie and I'll get covers made for earlier Standards if this is the case and it's not just a strange issue with 0316 (it also has only 2 scews in the toggle switch cover, different from 0346 which has 3 screws). Anyone with any info about the different shaped backplates on earlier Standards please let me know and if anyone has a Standard with a plastic backplate and wants to compare them with the later aluminium ones please let me know. If anyone knows who produced the original design for these please tell them to get in touch with me if they have any problems with my use of the design and to discuss any fees for the use etc. It will take 6 - 8 weeks for the order to be processed and do not want to take any money until they are ready to ship out so watch this space.
Hamerica Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Hey RichRS6!Excellent! I'm in for a minimum of two as well. Just let me know when your ready for the money. Thanks for doing this they look great. Best wishes,Hamerica
DBraz Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Most excellent. I certainly want a few, maybe more!
rugby1970 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 If you have any that will fit a Phantom Custom, I'll take one.
kenjones Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I bet you can sell some "non-etched" plates as well. There's plenty of old Specials and Sunbursts out there that are somehow missing the back plate.
Roshark Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I will take 2 . Thanks for making this happen .
tommy p Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Rich, I'll be in for at least two. Do we just PM you what we want?
Hbom Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I bet you can sell some "non-etched" plates as well. There's plenty of old Specials and Sunbursts out there that are somehow missing the back plate. Looks like there will be a bunch of spare oem plates available soon.
