Paolo is a great guy and a fantastic luthier. Two of my three guitars were finished sooner than he quoted me. All three are excellent. Remember, he may just be posting a pic of a completed guitar, so that exact one may not be for sale. I've had Paolo send me pics of the work just a few days after I paid the deposit. TGP faithful scoffed at his eight week promise to build my Flying V during COVID. It came to my door with days to spare. It's my favorite Flying V ever.10 points

Yes, been using them for years... they are absolutely great and make a difference... the only downside is "depending on the cable" it can be super hard to pull out... make sure your jack plate is secured well... can put stress on plastic plates5 points

Last night there was a show with four bands in Johnson City, Tennessee: Warrant, Winger, Lita Ford (with Dee Snider), and Molly Hatchet. Warrant is the only band that I am not sure of ever having a Hamer connection, but the other three certainly have been known for having Hamer guitars and basses. Lita only played B.C. Rich guitars last night, but her guitar player was Gary Hoey. He played one guitar all night, and it was a Hamer.4 points

I see you've been on here since May '24 so maybe you're not aware but this needs a price listed. And further clarification- Is this a USA? Replica? Which is it? Nitro or Poly finish? What is the DOM? Does it include a case? A pic of the head stock would also be helpful to someone interested.4 points

Sounds like the all too frequent calls I get from realtors...."I see you have some rental properties. I just listed a few and there has never been a better time to buy. Oh, you are not looking to buy? Well, if you want to sell what you have, there has never been a better time to sell!" Yep.....Translated as, "There has never been a better time for me to get a commission". There is a reason I let the calls go to voice mail.....4 points

Sold via Reverb. Super nice Epiphone Lazarus. Just enough play to smooth out the neck finish (which is way more comfortable than the rough satin finish). Frets polished, well set up. Original everything, including the Gibson Burstbucker pickups. Includes all case candy and the Bonamassa strap that came with the guitar when you bought it through Bonamassa's website. One of the nicer tops that I've seen on a Laz. Original film still on the pickups and plastics. $950 plus the ride.3 points

1974 replica implies a early style 4 digit guitar (to me anyhow) and it is pretty much impossible to find one of those for $4K nowadays. 90's and 00's Standard Customs were selling for $4K a year or two back but i don't think prices on the recent ones are dropping much at all. I haven't has the opportunity to check out a Sonic in person, but all the reviews I've seen so far are very positive. I think the prices are pretty reasonable for a custom-built 4-digit style Standard. YMMV...3 points

I think I may be back in the saddle here. But family health issues continue to keep things drudgerous. At the present time my participation will still prolly be limited. Will clarify when a particualr page is turned. That's as detailed as I want to get for now. Thanks for your understanding. And by the way, I've sold oalmost all ff my collection. WGM/VGM3 points

Hi Hamer Fan Club, I’m reluctantly parting with my hamer vector usa and would appreciate some guidance on setting a fair price. I’m considering listing it on Reverb but would like to have a price point to go after. It’s serial number is 3 9096 printed in yellow on top of head The fretboard and neck are in great shape, with minimal dings—overall, it’s in really good condition in my opinion. I purchased it from a seller in Poland and am unsure if the pickups are original. It comes with the original flight case who has some wear and tear, and vibrato arm. Thanks in advance for any help! -frode2 points

Only in "Community Property" states. "Common Law" state residents don't enjoy that 100% step-up. So, there are only nine states that are community property states. Sadly, I don't live in one! And a "Pre-Nup" blows all that up. In substance, a pre-nup is designed to ensure property isn't "community".2 points

That is exactly it.....I figure 35% of the net cash out would go to taxes. Now IF held until death (me or spouse) there is a full step up in tax basis to market value. The surviving spouse (Or heir) can sell the next day and have NO tax liability. OR start depreciating it all over again and enjoy the cash flow with at least some of the income sheltered from taxes. The only real justification for doing otherwise would be if there was an opportunity to trade up into something bigger. MAYBE if I was 30 years younger......But those days of leveraging up are long gone.2 points

Real estate agents never get return phone calls, and they really do not like it if I answer the phone. Why should I sell if my property makes money? I would have to reinvest in another property or lose money to capital gains tax. The only person to profit from the deal is the real estate agent. It would be nice if there was an honest offer like, "I would like for you to shit on yourself and give me money." My end of the conversation would be much more pleasant. I used to have some comic book art that was desirable. Every vulture out there told me I had to sell it to them, but for a low price because it just was not worth that much. I saw what they advertised their art for. The lesson learned was to be quiet about what I had. Being proud to have something nice came with the price of harassment. I am guilty of dropping the "if you ever want to sell that guitar" line on a couple of HFC members. I feel so ashamed now. But if you ever want to sell...2 points

Good one, Steve! Good to hear from you, Willie! I really enjoyed the Bakersfield Guitar book. Sending positive juju your way.1 point

I thought about putting this in the FS/WTB/PSA section but realistically, there's no point in anyone else bidding because Kizanski will likely outbid everyone for these. 🤑 https://www.juliensauctions.com/en/auctions/-gibson-gives-guitar-benefit-auction-595 Some examples: Not exactly sure what Gibson is 'giving' with these heavily damaged guitars, but it's gonna cost a fortune to fix them. Doesn't seem worth it. Ymmv. 🙃 🫣1 point

The buy/flip has definitely changed. My philosophy going forward is to buy with intent. You want it, it better be a good one. I have a few things to move yet, and a few projects to finish up. if something worth the purchase shows itself I’ll think twice.1 point

Beautiful work! I don’t see any strap buttons, I suppose that’s up to the owner’s preference? I’m not an aficionado of Explorers but always thought the body shoulder by the neck heel made more sense than the back of the heel.1 point

I tried to sell some amps last year and it was hard. No bites at all. Now I recently sold three heads and one cab. But the cab was a hard sell. It was a 1974 Marshall 1960A and I had to drop the price on it. I am thinking, are players going more to digital and in ears? Are new players less interested in amps + cabs?1 point

IIRC, Sandoval made Randy's polka dot V using a Dano neck. Wonder which scale he used?1 point

Don't think this has been posted. One guy's opinion (it popped up in the array right after the PhilX video in the other thread):1 point

Enjoyed that immensely. Thanks for posting. ETA: the thought of an SG with a bit thicker body, a '56 Les Paul neck and the strap button on the horn sounds very attractive, especially at an Epiphone price point.1 point

Honestly, if it was me, I'd just grab a regular jack and mount it to the chassis and solder jumper wires to it... easy enough to determine what wires go where... Good luck 👍1 point

I try to never buy any music gear that I can't make money on, or at least break even on, but I am getting closer to getting one of those cheap headless Eart guitars off amazon, I think it would allow me to play comfortably on the couch, my back might be happier and allow me to practice longer, that's my reasoning anyway, and not a big loss if I decided to resell again. With that as an exception, I avoid collecting anything that's going to depreciate, I put a fair amount of money into bicycles over the past 15 years, those are a terrible investment, but that exercise has quite a bit of value. I laugh when I hear gold/coin store ads on the radio: "it's a great time to buy!, and if you have extra gold and jewlery, it's also a great time to sell!", I'm sure there is a guitar marketing equivalent.1 point

Are you certain on the Danelectro scale length? My '56 with the same headstock was 25.5" scale. They made them in 25," 25.5" and a ton of them in 23."1 point

I'll be selling about fifteen guitars after May 1st, but I'm not confident that I'll be able to sell for fair value (what I think they're worth). Not sure it matters, but everything I see that catches my eye on Reverb or other forums has been for sale for a long time.1 point
