Stuff that enver leaves the HFC

I was thinking of all the possessions that stay "in the family" here. To wit:

Mobster orders a custom orange 12-string Duotone. Sells it to Spidey. Who sells it to me. I trade my Valvetech to cajunboy for a B12L which I sell to Moose. I buy Johnny Thunders' white Artist and sell it to riffpowers. And I sold the gold Studio Custom to iownit4. This week Discountsounds is selling my custom-made EL84 amp back to me after a month of trying it.

Why don't we just make the dues a thousand bucks a year and toss all the gear in a communal pot to check out, like a gear geek libraray? Sometimes it seems that way! But ain't it cool that we have a trusted community of buyers and sellers, all fickle, here to share with?

Definately. I sold my TLE to JohnfrmCal, and when he was ready to sell, he was cool enough to contact me first. It just goes to show what kind of a cool community it is.

Hmmm, methinks that B12L came from somebody here when I bought it, and the Valvetech went to Caddie, who sold it here just recently.

I'd sure like to run back across the blue Studio Custom that I sold a coupla years back. I think it was a former Turdus guitar with a stolen pawn shop history. It ended up in Abaco's (IIRC) hands when I foolishly passed it on.

It's easier (for me) to remember which ones DIDN'T come and go thru here. Easily my favorite spot for learning about, finding, buying, and/or selling gear on the net.

Every Hamer I currently own - with the exception of my first - has direct ties to this board. Pretty cool.

I like it!!The good thing about this gear doing the rounds is if you're thinking of buying something you can be sure that someone else has had it 1st, so you can get some good unbiased info on it before you buy!!

Actually polara, you make a really good point.

It would , IMHO be well worth Hamer doing a "tour box" of a new model to pass round the HFC.It would be a good way of getting feedback and giving us all GAS, as we are, after all the target market!!

yup. the valvetech went to pasqual12. He lives nearby, came over to try it out. He peeled off the cash, and left with the valvetech. no packaging/shipping, no paypal or money order nonsense. And it stayed within our little community. I suspect it will end up in another HFCer's basement.

like some remote, small communties, our "gene pool" could use a wee bit of freshening up. remember the banjo kid in Deliverance.

If it is the red tolex-ed valvetech, I bought it off of Caddie. Love it, simply LOVE it.

Strange you brought that up. I was thinking of dumping it for a B8 and played it -- couldn't let it go. 90% of that was because it is such a cool instrument and I enjoy playing it. But the rest of the reason was because of the dude who wants it. He'd ruin it. He is VERY hard on instruments and that 12ver needs a little extra lovin' compared to most of my instruments.

Most of the folks here provide loving homes. An instrument will be well cared for or, at least, played the way it deserves.

I think I also currently have posession of one contender for Queen Slut instrument on the HFC -- the Diaperburst special. Before I got it, that thing traded hands half a dozen times. And it's a GOOD instrument, so there's no reason for it to go other than someone doesn't care for P90s or has too many similar guitars, but I'll be damned if HFCers don't have a habit of overloading their guitar closets and needing to purge now and again.

I really like dealing with HFC'ers. I've never been burned here, and I have elsewhere. Everyone seems to be willing to cut a deal as well.

Here's some history on guitars I've traded with members here:

Black Bart - purchased new from BCR Greg, sold to SirDan, traded to Gus, back to SirDan, and then on to...I forget....chime in, please. And yes, this guitar was offered back to me, and it's been trading at a VERY reasonable rate.

I purchased an orange Phantom Custom off ebay which now resides with MC Chris.

I purchased a damaged studio (unknown at time of purchase), had it refinned in white, and sold it to JohnnyThunders.

I got an excellent deal on a T-51f from a dealer, which has been passed on to pesocaster.

Dave Berg, Famous Volcanoes guitarist, now owns, not one, not two, but three of my castoffs, 2 T-51's (one of which spent a brief time in Kiz's hands this summer) and a Studio GT.

I own a Chris Matthes red B12s, which may be on the market soon, and you better believe I'll pass it along here.

I own a Steve Matthes silver sparkle Standard, which isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I own an amberburst Studio Custom, purchased off Jaye Isham, who bought from BCR Greg, I believe.

I've purchased the following off the board from "lurkers" who post mainly only to sell guitars: 25th Anniversary Artist Ltd, Blue 8-string Blades Bass (which was originally purchased new from alpep), orange sparkle Standard (which is under negotiations with a local, who shall remain nameless for now).

I traded a 25th Anniversary Artist (purchased new from BCR Greg) to burningyen for his stunning orange-sparkle Newport custom order.

I own a seafoam green T-51, purchased from BadgerDave, who bought it from local guy Roger (now if I can only get him to part with that hideous pink-sparkle Gretsch guitar he owns).

I LOVE this place!

The one thing I didn't get to do on my trip to The Cities was to play that guitar. I dont even remember seeing it. Was it at the jam just 4 short weeks ago tonight.

I have a few HFC pre owns. My first was a Black Daytona I got from Hamersandstrats.

My favorite is a '97 Mahogany Standard that went from Bruce919 to Brewmaster to SonicBlue1960 to me. Just to be greedy or stupid with G.A.S. I got another '97 Mahogany Standard recently that was ? to Kiz to ?? to Pirateflynn to SB'60 then me. Love the Flame in the one piece body.

I bought it from a Canadian seller on ebaY about four years ago. Sold it to Citrus. Bought it back. Sold it to Woodpile. I was going to buy it back again but didn't. Woody sold it to Pirateflynn (or was there someone inbetween?), who sold it to sonicblue and then to you.
