BubbaVO Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 and without any effects.I brought out the VOX Tonelab and while I liked the options and it was fun horsing around with it. I really liked playing straight into the Trademark 60 and flipping between the channels.Anyone else?
custom53 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I will use a few effects for certain songs (mxr phase 90, chrous, delay, etc) but usually it is straight thru the amp (either my Soldano HR50+ or the Peavey Classic 100 because of the reverb) Both are 2 channel.
stobro Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I don't even OWN any pedals. Of course, I haven't played guitar in a band for 30 years or so, only bass. My guitar playing is striclty around the house.Hmmm, maybe if I started using effects, I could get a gig playing guitar!
veatch Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Guitar -> cable -> ampUnless on a gig, then it's:Guitar -> volume pedal -> tuner -> amp
Feynman Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Heck no! I sound like crap that way.me -->guitar --> effect -->effect -->effect -->effect -->effect -->effect -->effect -->effect -->effect -->effect -->ampSometimes it sounds cool that way. Most of the times it's obvious I still suck though.
The Shark Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Guitar..................cord.....................amp. But then there's the effects loop!
zorrow Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Certainly not me, but I'm very close: Guitar --> treble booster --> amp Note: "-->" above means Planet Waves cables.
landon w Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 i have to say effects loop. lexicon, just a hair of reverb and what i like to call a "squinch" of delay.
cloakerz Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I have an a/b box on my pedalboard that can take me guitar-vol pedal-amo if I like. Bypasses the whole works and I do use it sometimes if everything is sounding like i want.
m chops Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 When doing the rare gig, always a pedal board, otherwise, about 70% of the time guitar=>cord=>amp.
Steve Haynie Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 My bass has gone straight into the amp, but the Mutron and bass wah have been plugged in for fun every now and then. The guitar goes straight into the amp. BUT-- the stompboxes have been piling up and one day they will go on a pedal board. Right now the object is to get a good sound out of an amp.
Hamerhack Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Artist Custom straight to Rivera Fandango.Living room "lounge performances" is all I do.
Hamerica Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Hamers straight into mostly vintage amps. If I want effects, place into a Peavey 5150 with a short stack of Mesa Boogie on the side. But then again, like Hamer Hack Living room "lounge performances" is all I do.Hamerica
KH Guitar Freak Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Only for my Laney Lionheart setup. But that's because I'm lazy to set up my pedals, cause I don't have a pedalboard...
bubs_42 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I went Guitar-Amp for many years. Then I started buying pedals a couple of months ago and ended up with a full pedal board. I stated in another thread that my amp was missing a little tone. I pulled the pedal board out of my chain the amp sounds awsome. I'll be purging pedals soon I think.
bizzwriter Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Depends on the amp.Marshall Jubilee -- straight into the amp, no pedals.Matchless Lightning 15 -- into my Analogman Beano Boost, then into the amp.Fender blackface Champ and Princeton Reverb -- into my TS-808 Tubescreamer, then into the amp.I don't do any other pedals except for the occasional wah.
doody Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 don't own any pedals but I do have a foot controler for my Cybertwin.99% of the time its the microcube though.

I stated in another thread that my amp was missing a little tone. I pulled the pedal board out of my chain the amp sounds awsome. I'll be purging pedals soon I think.thats why i like my single rack mount effects. the amp is MAYBE 2 or 3% louder without it, but with send and return loop levels, then mix and output levels on the reack unit, i can really dial in that breathy tube sound.With pedals i always seemed to just get noise, and less tone, less volume, and basically a lot of iritation that makes the effects not worth it.Good clean rack unit is the way to go, but it does take some tweaking........im a tweaker, guess thats why i love boogies. a little tweak here, little tweak there, and all of a sudden, I got a recto with 14 different tones. FYI,they ARE NOT just a metal amp, can do pretty much anything any other head can do and that includes a shimmery clean. Dont let anybody tell you diff.

I'm definitely getting that Visual Sound volume pedal to run as a buffer up front. They seem to make pretty darn good buffering circuitries...
karmma1 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I love playing straight into the amp (usually my knucklehead), and typically only have a wah inline. Sometimes when i get bored or want/need a different tone i use a pedal for OD or distortion, though...and i have a sampling pedal i play around with occasionally. I have a bunch of pedals (the requisite chorus, flange, delay etc) but i rarely feel compelled to plug them in.
