elduave Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Badger, can I use your listing as a template?
MCChris Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 Big brass ones. You know what it takes to sell a 1959 Gibson Les Paul on eBay with no reserve and a $1 opening bid?
Hamerica Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I did notice the link so I was really confused. Badger is the man! I couldn't have done it. I am going to watch this one. Hell I might even bid! Good Luck! Hamerica
veatch Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 HEY! I'm the high bidder! I was, too for about 5 minutes. I was looking for the temporary thrill of victory. Somehow, i've already been outbid... ???
GaryT Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Man, its in extremely nice condition.I thought the 59's had the Les-Paul Special removed from the headstock? Maybe a very early 59?
Punkavenger Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Wow! Thats a beauty ... worth around $16,500? (if this is inappropriate delete please)

Craig Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 That will be shill bid the whole way, guaranteed. No big balls at all. Nice ax though.
Punkavenger Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 That will be shill bid the whole way, guaranteed. No big balls at all. Nice ax though.I certainly hope yr not casting aspersions on Badger Daves character ol' boy
hamerhead Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 That will be shill bid the whole way, guaranteed. No big balls at all. Nice ax though.Dude, you forgot your smilie.
JohnnyB Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 BAM!I've noticed a lot of auctions work well this way: for high-profile goods you'll get the most buzz and the highest final bid with a near-zero opening bid, no reserve, and (most importantly) a 10-day or 2-week auction to make it work and build up a bidding frenzy. This thing's up to $3450 in the first 22 hrs and has 9 days to go. What's the last hour going to look like?Still, it takes balls to run an auction that way.
BCR Greg Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 That will be shill bid the whole way, guaranteed. No big balls at all. Nice ax though. Saying that Badger has no balls is pretty stupid. He's got more than a herd of elephants, and you would do well to apologize to the man for that disparaging comment.

Hell, I didn't realize it was Badger's auction until I read your post and then checked to see who the seller was.
Siaip Ciuvas Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I bid for it, jus to be able to tell my grandchildren that I was trying to buy all original '59 Gibson. outbid in no time ;)

Hell, I didn't realize it was Badger's auction until I read your post and then checked to see who the seller was.Agreed. Dude probably didn't read the whole thread and assumed it was a run of the mill E-bay auction. I doubt that it was an intentional slam of the good Badger.
Craig Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Sorry Badger - didn't know it was yours, I will certainly retract that comment, seeing as I've known your character is good for years. Good luck on your auction. Sadly, Ebay experience has shown me that fake bidding is rampant, so it was a simple statement. This comes from doing over 3000+ transactions on Ebay, as well as on the side, when you could still do that on Ebay. Regardless, go make a million, all the best.

Thanks for the clarification. As a moderator, I decree that your punishment is to listen to the new Motley Crue album twice in succession. Now go in peace to love and serve the board.
Craig Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Look Poe - it's been a while, but I will NOT do that twice in a row. Funny part is I just got my first official 24 hr ban from a site for calling out a blatant Anti Semite because I personally attacked him, go figure. I'd do that again before MC 2x. LOL!Hope everyone on the board is well.
