Tech 21 Trademark 60

Question

Posted

You guys still like this amp? I don't do guitar gigs with any regularity any more. Gonna sell most of my stuff, but want an amp that could pull off the possible yearly gig I might do.

These seem to go cheap on Ebay, thus my interest. I believe they also don't store a gazillion settings, if any at all, and that is also appealing.

Only looking for opinions on this amp.... whether you still like it, don't like it, found something better, reliabilty issues... those kinds of things.

Thanks.

Still really like these amps. Talked the other guitarist in my band into one and his tone is finally great (Marshall before) and he absolutely loves it. I picked one up from a great HFCer a couple of years back, but have been too lazy to set up my other pedalboard for it yet. As my back ages, that will become more of a motivator. Plenty loud for most gigs-total control through the board if you want. Win-win.

Great amp. I replaced a tube amp and haven't looked back. Can't beat the used price, either. Tech 21 has great customer service if you ever need it.

Another +1, particularly the line out/onboard SansAmp. I lost count of how many complements I got from house soundmen (from small clubs to outdoor festivals) on the ease of getting us dialed in great because the board's channel slider and eq didn't need massive tweaking.

Lightweight, ultra reliable, bulletproof (mine survived a drop hard enough to crack the box when it shipped to me and it still worked perfectly) and dare I say waterproof based on that outdoor set my last band managed to finish in a sideswiping torrential rain.

If I return to gigging again, I'd be VERY inclined to get another TM60 despite how much I love my Boogie setup.

Another +1.

The on board Sansamp was fantastic in a live setting.

The amp sounds great, lots of different sounds, lightweight, bulletproof - what more does a guy need?

The other guitar player in my band had his Marshall combo die and he borrowed my Trademark 60. I had just purchased it. You can guess the rest of the story. I still own it. It sounds really good clean and distorted. I guess I could borrow it.

Thumbs up from me, I got one a couple of months ago along with the power engine ext. cab. Great gigging amp, sounds really good direct thru the PA. Very versitle, foot switchable boost and effects loop are a great plus for playing live. I think it sounds almost as good as my Marshall or Orange inside a small to medium venue, but outdoors cranked it does'nt have quite the Tube Balls.

On my short list for years, but I've been gigging more on bass since the late '90s.

I need to pick one of those up soon though - when I have played through them live (with one exception where I didn't have a chance to soundcheck with it first and set levels), it's been a great all-around amp.

+ 1,000 on the lightweight thing going over well with me these days. I'm pretty much done slugging heavy amps around!

I'm back in town on Sunday.

I really need to hunt one down and spend some quality time with it. I've only had two encounters with one. One was a rec room noodle at a friends house while I was shooting his guitar collection. The other was when BCR Greg threw a Les Paul at me in mid gig and the other end of the rig was a Trademark 60. There was a lot wrong with what happened after that, but the amp wasn't one of them. :D

Absolutely. Versatile, tone-full and great direct, but tend to "blaat-out" at higher volumes.

STILL miss my TM10, though. That thing was the ultimate apartment amp and the DI sounded great through my home mixer/monitors. Usable, deep and "boing-y" reverb, too.

Agreed - my TM-10 is the "Computer room" practice amp.

I have used a Trademark 60 for the last 15 years. All of my live gigs, the vast majority of my studio work... We have sold scores of them, and NEVER have problems.

Just hooked up my very old (and very trustworthy) PSA-1 for the first time in a while. Great processor. I use it for recording guitar, bass, and an occasional vocal.

Other than a dead pilot light, my Trademark 10 has been a workhorse for years. Lloyd at Tech21 support is the best.

I suppose I should disclose that I had some involvement with the development of the PSA-1 MIDI implementation.

Sold all my tube amps except the Deluxe and the Silvertone 1392 after I got a Trademark 60...love it.

Picked up one from Mitch. Had forgotten that I owned one of these years ago, but sold it before spending any real time with it that I can recall.

I'm seeing that there appears to be some cosmetic changes over the one I had.. back panel is smooth vs. swirled. Speaker is a Celestion vs Tech 21 stamped. Who's hip enough on these to know if the changes are only cosmetic?

For what I'm doing at home, I think this amp sounds fine.

I think I may have to get one of these. Now, how does the sound capabilities differ from the Trademark 30? 30 seems to have a much different kind of preamp setup, but only one channel.
