That right there is a persuasive blend of clever and really well done! Congrats!

Thank you. Now it's built already, it looks easy; but it took me several iterations on paper to steer this project to where I wanted it to go. I wanted it to remain as loyal as possible to the original RS, with a vintage edge and lot of class, but I also wanted a Vee. As I don't like cheesy metal shapes nor "over-pointy" stuff, I opted for the classic 58 V. I think I completely got it when I decided to go with rounder pickguard corners and with the tremolo plate exactly like in the RS. I'm very proud of this guitar and have no words to thank the builder, Ronny, who is a caring, skilled, knowledgeable and open-minded person, and who also had to deal with my caprices at every single level -and also contributed with his more than valuable input and experience, of course. So, as he has materialized my vision 100% to my expectations, I will never be able to pay him for that, in spite of what I paid him for his job. If this thing plays as good as it looks, I'll consider my guitar-related dreams realized.

Makes me think there'd be a market for May-ified versions of familiar guit shapes...

I thought the same at first, but now I think it's hard to tell how big is that market. At least it's a quite risky move going that path, for sure... but who knows anyway? :)

I wonder May didn't come to that conclusion!!! To my personal taste the original RS shape today appears quite old fashioned. Instead of ever copying a vintage shape a clever facelift would sometimes do the trick. That's what the big companies actually do, eventually, to re-publish the old shapes in even more expensive limited series.

That's BRILLIANT!

Great concept, great execution.

I saw a reddish V-shaped guitar and immediately did this......... :D

I then realised exactly what it was and did this........ :o

Only you, buddy - only you. It's REALLY cool.

Looks like it ate Brian May's guitar.. that's going to turn some heads!

So.. how's it work?

On/off switches for each pup with reverse phase? I see six white squares on the pickguard and am a little surprised no one has asked.

The volume and tone knobs look a little out of reach.. out of the way of the trem, eh?

That's a masterpiece

If you described it to me I would have scoffed at the very idea, but that looks amazing.

Beautiful execution.

That's it. One on/off switch and one reverse phase switch per pup. The pups are wired in series.

Damn Ionel! Look at you Mr. Original and all. ^_^

You know Brian is gonna hunt you down just to play it don't you? :P

Totally sick Ionel

And the iterations were worth the time, also i don't recall that there are so many changes from the first idea...right?

Totally sick, and the luthier is amazing.

Congratulations!!!!

I can't get over how RIGHT that looks!

It really does. Someone needs to get a pic to Dr. May somehow; I'm sure he would get a kick out of it.

That's how they are on the Red Special:

So it seems no detail was overlooked. Bravo!

I've sent a pic of mine to Brian's Soapbox last year. Pete Malandrone replyed that he liked it and would show it to Brian when there is time. I've never received a second note.

Anyways, I'll go and tell you guys how Zorrow's guitar rocks when it arrives. I've got cold feet taking care of it before Zorrow even touches it, but now can't wait for the arrival. What an honor!

I know I've already weighed in with my praise, but I'd like to add that this is one of the coolest custom orders I have ever seen. Zorrow, you got everything just right. I'm officially envious, and I don't even like Vs.

Kudos to all on that one.

What a COOL idea, and executed beyond what I would have imagined.

Rock that thing, Ionel!
