New Tally Day

Well, kinda.

This arrived courtesy of LotJ late last month, but having a stock Talladega already, it was sent back out for a few changes.

atquinn won the "WWYD" wiring contest, so I went with his suggestion of using something similar to John Suhr's wiring.

What I ended up with is this:

1 = Bridge Humbucker Full

2 = Bridge/Neck Slug Coils w/ 470k resistor reducing the V pot to 250k

3 = Bridge/Neck Full

4 = Neck Screw Coil w/ 470k resistor reducing the V pot to 250k

5 = Neck Full

No push/push-push/pull, just one switch and a couple knobs.

Everything sounds fantastic. The difference I can make just by changing my attack on the bridge pickup is crazy. Position 2 has an almost acoustic, woody openness to it that I'm not sure I get from anything else I own.

Plays great, sounds phenomenal, and a bit of a looker as well! I think we're gonna keep her!

Man that Tally is super sweet - that is one of my favorite finishes for it as well!

Did you go with Suhr pickups?

I agree about the responsiveness of changing the picking attack on my Tally - all kinds of sweet spots...

I'm not sure if the indigo was ever production color or not, but I believe this one was a special order through Rocketeria.

No to the Suhr pickups, it's a set of the WB Gregwinds. The neck is a little bassy by itself, but it's set about as low as it can be so I'm sure some adjustments can dial that out.

I've got the same pickups in a Standard and had a set in a Vector and never had any muddiness in the neck on either of them.

Thanks for the info - I have heard of some good things about the Gregwinds - I put a set of WCR Cherrybuckers in my Tally and they sound amazing.

First thought was of dog ear pickups. But they aren't.

Great looker for sure. Would be great to here the special sounds.

Congratulations!

If my purchases from you helped fund the purchase of this guitar in any way, I'm proud I could be a part of it.

Also, now I can see why you were able to give up the guitars you sold me. That is awesomely beautiful.

Are you kidding me!?!?

That indigo is gorgeous.

The Gregwinds are the $hit.

Congrats! I hope you enjoy her for a long time.
