veatch Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 That's 100% awesome wrapped in bacon and smothered in chocolet.
velorush Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 My gosh, what have I gotten myself into? Something way better than I'd ever imagined! This is just 31 flavors of incredible!
Boomerang~Junkie Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 How on Earth does this thread and process just keep getting better?!?! What a kick ass thread !That black quilt is so insanely wild, if I didn't know better, I'd swear it was computer generated - yes its that incredible Unbelievable work.
coolfeel Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 These guitars are stupid nice! Cherish these first few guitars if you are one of the lucky ones; the price/quality factor is unprecedented. That is THE SHIT!
gorch Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 That is THE SHIT! Fantastic! but wait until the laquer is on.
Bobby Marshall Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Reminds me of James Valentine's Talladega Pro. Wonder how my talpro would look with that finish.
cmatthes Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Reminds me of James Valentine's Talladega Pro. Wonder how my talpro would look with that finish.I'm guessing a lot like James Valentine's?

I'm guessing a lot like James Valentine's?I guess I was asking for that. The quilts on his and on that Ultimate are very similar and the finish makes the quilt pop. I like mine but no pop.
Thundersteel Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 My one piece of advice for anyone who didn't get into the initial run, but is interested in owning a guitar that was made specifically for them, is to contact Mike and to see how affordable a custom guitar that is spec'd exactly how you want it, really is when compared to the prices of a set neck off the rack Gibson, PRS, or similar instrument. Yes, I DEFINITELY want to get in on the second run. I'm assuming he's not taking any new orders until the first run is completed.

Yes, I DEFINITELY want to get in on the second run. I'm assuming he's not taking any new orders until the first run is completed. There won't be any more 'runs' of these as I understand it (the original run was supposed to be12, but sold out in about two hours and orders kept streaming in, so Mike decided to try to accommodate as many as he could, but eventually had to close the run) but once the Ultimates are largely finished, Mike will be doing customs and perhaps other runs of different things. The introductory pricing at the extremely low level of the Ultimates won't be part of future stuff (Mike wouldn't be able to keep going!), but should still be very (surprisingly) attractive, particularly when compared to builds of this quality.
bubs_42 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I can't wait for my next Shishkov.. or my first one.
Jakeboy Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 We have to be getting close to the first few being complete.....I would imagine.
cmatthes Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Definitely getting there, Mark. I'm sure we'll be hearing/seeing more soon!
BadgerDave Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Just thinking out loud here.As Mike communicates with us, sends photos, etc., should we be posting details here? This is a mature and intelligent group, but I could see some negatives associated with "top envy" particularly. Personally, I'd prefer to wait and see photos of the finished guitars, but the in process shots are cool too. My viewpoint is that I'm not going to post anything here that Mike sends me unless he has specifically said that it's OK with him. Not judging what anyone else does or assuming they have not cleared anything with Mike.
cmatthes Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Typically, when Mike sends out in-progress pics to the individual prospective owners, he will either ask them if it's okay for HIM to post the pics, mention that he'd prefer to keep a particular shot private, or will say it's okay to post. He's not trying to be mysterious at all, but there are definitely some things that are meant to be a surprise or Mike feels he prefers to not have posted at that time. He is also leaving it up to the future Shishkov owners as to whether they want things shared. Some things will have a greater impact either at a later point in the build process or upon completion. All of this is certainly keeping a great level of excitement going - for ME, at least! As far as "top envy" - I think every single top that I saw was worthy of eliciting that kind of response. Mike has got some amazing stuff going, and we have just scratched the surface!
hanspanzer Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Well, Mike`s sharing pics all the time, doesn`t he? I`d love to see progress pics of all the ultimates if it was up to me.
kizanski Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 There's nothing here that isn't on his two Facebook pages.
