Tempting. But a big part of me says "get Mike to build one!"

I'd imagine at triple the price and 30% of the resale value. It takes a long time for a builder to become known to the market, hell 90% of guitarists don't know what a Hamer is.

That neck looks ultra thin. I wish he had a side shot of the neck. It looks like a great guitar, but it would be 12 frets too much for my playing ability.

Mike wouldn't likely be triple the price (assuming he'd even want to build another Virt) but guys...he is not HAMER, nor is that his goal!

Why don't you wait to see some of his original designs?!

Why do I always envision me on my back deck with a 200wt Marshall Major, 2 4x12 cabs, a Digitech Whammy Pedal and a Virtuoso just killing every animal with better hearing than me for a few city blocks?

May be right but I have always bought guitars because I like them or want to play them. Whether I make money or get my money back doesn't enter the equation as I rarely sell.

Why not? I'm in.

Maybe I can figure out how to at least keep the PRS. Watch for the Vintage S for sale soon, depending on how this auction goes.

You will probably get it for the starting price. It was up 3 times for the same starting price last year on Ebay and didn't generate a single bid.

Given earlier discussions (& what we know Mike is capable of) I'm more than curious to see what he does after the Ultimate runs are done :)

It would be like me buying a real Grand Prix race car to drive around on the street to get groceries and painfully pedestrian thins like that - WAY more guitar than I'd ever master.

Regardless, IT IS cool as all hell and tempting to own just on its coolness factor alone (if I ever won the lottery).

I hope you get it - we'll have to live vicariously through you.

The guy in the vid is a very, very good player. I might have lost count I couldn't see the fret markers, but I don't think he went past fret 23. Question for Hamer is why the extra 12 frets? Did some big star ask for it? Did you add them just cuz ya could? Who uses them? Maybe E.T. has thin enough fingers to use those frets.

Cheers!

I've owned several Vurts and never went above 24. It's not about practicality, it's just to have something unique. It's like owning a Ferrari, all that power is useless in normal everyday driving, but it doesn't mean it isn't fun to know its available.

That's what all the addicts say. "I can quit buying guitars anytime I want to." Next question for the seller is the death knell, deal killer; "How much does she weigh?" Well DB, you're gonna look awfully silly with that stiletto heal stickin out of yer ass. (courtesy Sheriff Jim Duncan, High Plains Drifter.)

About the Virt now:

I love the Virtuoso Mr. Hamer himself owns -it features a sustainblock bridge.

Luckily for me, I hate Floyds, therefore no inner conflicts about this one. Pass! :)
