When I was sixteen I was into progressive rock. In jr high (early 70's) I was into Led Zep and Cream, Doors, HENDRIX, some Beatles and Stones ... whats considered classic rock these days. Or maybe "classic classic" rock seeing that Billy Squire is now considered classic rock. (!!!) its all about what music correlates with what time period you grew up in.

That particular song is kind of dumb and so made it on the radio. The rest of the album needs to be heard through headphones. Like so much of Water's concepts, it's the ambient noise in the background that draws you into the story. Listen to it and then, "Let's move to Wyoming." ETA: I guess ambient and background is from the more redundant departmentipisication.

I suppose I'm in the minority here in that I hold Beano-to-Cream Clapton as superior while maintaining an affinity for "Layla and Other Assorted..." and "Slowhand," with "The Core" being one of my all-time favorite "Strat" songs. As far as Strat-Clapton goes, I much prefer the Blackie era to the later iteration of humbuckeresque mid boost. If you want that sound out of your Strat, do the Jimmy Herring (or Punkavenger) thing, man! To those who say he "lost it" after Cream, it may just be the humbuckers + Clapton amalgam that's actually missing...
