cynic Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I thought Hamer had stopped using those "built for" plates on the cavity covers by early '71.
ARM OF HAMER Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 If its true......... Very Cool! I'd own that one! I'm not into a stars guitars thing [But its cool IF he owned it and the early "Top" was a very good band] but from the looks of it its been used "NATIONWIDE"..............like in a good way.
Biz Prof Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I never knew the Rev owned a Hamer. I eagerly await Serial Steve's response.
crunchee Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Needs more solid provenance than an engraved tag and truss rod cover, especially from a seller with zero feedback.

ARM OF HAMER Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I like the guitar exclusive of the Billy G. connection. [ If there really IS one] If it was his thats OK but if it is not its still cool. I like the look...............at that price for a Special though its way overpriced. I have never seen BG with a Hamer. of any kind............can't say I'm a eagle eye or that I have seen everything so...................
Jim Browne Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Love that color (especially where it remains unfaded)!
JochenP Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Do a guitar plays better if there is a prominent pre owner? I only see a very "used" early Special. (and a seller with feedback "0" )

But probably not this one. If he did, he sure played the shit out of it. And no pics of him doing so, very unlikely. Billy Gibbons owns a very cool white Custom Scepter with LED inlays in the neck that says ZZ TOP. It's in his book. Check it out!
cynic Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 The one thing all "stars guitars" have in common: They weren't worth keeping.

That is the exact thought that occurred to me in Walter Carter Guitars a couple of years back. I'm staring at this five-figure, real-deal '58 Les Paul and the tag says words to the effect, "on consignment - Keith Urban." The thought: Okay, if he'd found this to be worth (five figures), would it really be hanging for sale in Walter Carter Guitars? ETA: found a picture:
serial Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Music Ground has had that guitar 15 years ago (or longer). I don't recall if I ever confirmed the BG provenance or not. I'll look in the logs...

That's dangerously close to six figures. Whether it's "worth it" or not, who knows? Urban has to pay taxes, too, and who knows what he has lying around that makes it expendable.
Hamer Dave Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Which guitar? The Special, or the LP Standard. Others are being referenced here now. I'm confused. 20 minutes ago, serial said: Music Ground has had that guitar 15 years ago (or longer). I don't recall if I ever confirmed the BG provenance or not. I'll look in the logs...

Hamer Dave Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Music Ground?! Looks like they're well known for fakes...
