Clearly, he wanted to try that out and explore something new. In that regard, I'm OK to go on the ride with him. If Tom Petty was a new artist, it would give a different impression of who he was. This way, I saw it as artist experimentation. Ironically, it doesn’t bother me as much anymore. Neither does ELO...in fact, I like it from a pop view, but not as a rock thing...
BillW Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Clearly some opinion differences here. I, for one, think the majority of Lynns productions are simply brilliant...
cmatthes Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Let's keep things classy and respectable here. I've got too much to do today to play Kindergarten Cop.

It was a Monster Mash.
Toadroller Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Merely selective amnesia from this Pats fan.

Tortious Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Quote Tom Petty‘s death was due to an accidental drug overdose after he took a variety of pain medications. An autopsy for the “Free Falling” singer showed that he had taken several medications — including patches for the opioid Fentanyl, his family said in a statement on Friday. Petty was prescribed the meds due to his emphysema and a fractured hip. “Despite this painful injury he insisted on keeping his commitment to his fans and he toured for 53 dates with a fractured hip and, as he did, it worsened to a more serious injury,” the family said in a Facebook post. “On the day he died he was informed his hip had graduated to a full on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his over use of medication.” The singer died at UCLA Medical Center on Oct 2 after going into cardiac arrest. https://pagesix.com/2018/01/19/tom-petty-died-of-an-accidental-drug-overdose/
Steve Haynie Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 "Overdose" sounds bad. It is more accurate to say he died of a prescription drug interaction.
Jakeboy Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 This sucks. He was a musical hero of mine. And just like Prince, he is gone and it was preventable. He was previously a heroin user. Lots of people get prescribed opioids and don’t die or get addicted. Some die. This just sucks in every way possible. Major bummer.
gorch Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 That‘s really bad news. Drug missuse is a bigger problem nowadays. People tend to think a pill does it all and switch their brain of.
Steve Haynie Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Multiple prescriptions at the same time can mess someone up.
specialk Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I can only thank the stars I am not rich & famous and/or a pharmacist.
RobB Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Good lord. TP did over 50 shows with a fractured hip AND emphysema. He must have been doped up dawn to dusk. Awful. Why didn't management intervene? Where the fuk were his doctors? I'm sorry that he's gone, but the friggin' fans could have waited until his hip mended. Sorry, Tom, but you made a fatal mistake going on the road in that condition.
geoff_hartwell Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I was at Forest Hills in NY July 26 2017 on this last tour and they were on fire. The after party was really fun. I was hoping to see them again. It’s such a shame, over-prescribed and unregulated. Definitely a problem here in NY and the Hudson Valley.
