Any argument on which pickup is superior needs to be couched in the disclaimer that it's all subjective. I have tried both, time and time again. While I've found a few JB's that were more palatable to my ear, the vast majority were not. SuperD's just never grabbed me. Full stop. It's kinda funny because I don't think of myself as being particularly discerning in my audio preferences; I'm not a tone chaser to the extent that I have seen on here and elsewhere. But I know what I like when I hear it.4 points

Some of the coolest guitars Hamer ever made. Worth every penny. Talk about catchi g the New Wave era in a single stroke. Genious. And just as much work of art as they are guitars. Does anyone remember the name of the lady who painted these?3 points

Yeah, when you're on the show (twice) before Stike, something's way out of whack.3 points

Pretty sure it was AI. None of those images probably exist. I have a real problem with AI but I felt there was enough good info in this video to continue watching. It did repeat itself a lot though.3 points

I couldn't finish watching it. I have a problem when they just fill the video with random pics about the subject and they don't match up with what the narrator is saying... talking about a particular player and shows someone else etc. No offense to anyone, glad you enjoyed it.3 points

Bought it from Serial, played it, had BCR restore it, played it, sold it, bought it back, played it, had Murkat restore it, played it, sold it again. The Saga3 points

Dang, praise from Caesar. I fear we humble HFCers have barely scratched the surface of all the treasures hiding at your crib.2 points

That picture cracks me up, it really looks like we're about to throw hands when there was not one point during the recording that even approached contentious. π That was a good time and hopefully the POTheads didn't hate me. It was a little weird being called Ben that many times though. π People started calling me Stike 45 years ago and it kind of never stopped, Zuckerberg won't let me do that on Facebook though so I have to use my going to court name on social media. I'll ship something to you guys soon for the baked goods segment.2 points

Comparing the JB with the Super Distortion is dumb. They have nothing in common and not even close to sounding the same. Comparing two hot A5 humbuckers and two hot ceramics would have made more sense. The video felt kinda like a click bait. Nothing new.2 points

This video wasn't about that. It was about the philosophical differences in the two companies. At least that's what I got from it.2 points

Well I can tell summer time is here. Out in my garage practicing and suddenly some neighbors cats come snooping around. I think while Iβm practicing my bends, they must think some other cat is in heat! Stupid guitar.2 points

i have a 90's JB and Jazz in my thinline and they sound fantastic. I have always wanted a Super Distortion for my LP but I like the current PU's enough not to change them. Thanks this was a good watch2 points

Basically, the JB and the Super Distortion are my go-to's... I've been a fan of the JB pickup ever since my early 80's Charvels and a fan of the Super D's ever since I bought my first used Les Paul Custom back in the late 70's... I've tried various other pickups, but my ear is accustomed to those tones, harmonics, etc~ although I do love the Gibson PAF's and T-Tops as well I am a firm believer that you should install the pickup that matches your guitars tonal personality or its tonal deficiencies OHHH, completely forgot how much I love my Greco/Maxon U-1000/2000 pickups as well π€2 points

I no longer own this but it was one of the coolest I've seen. Believe it's a UPC code. I miss the good ole daze of Daddy's Junky Music where you could walk in a see one of these hanging on the wall... mispriced.2 points

Graphic finish guitars from the 70s and 80s almost always command a huge upcharge over a similar model with a standard finish because they are rare and unique and a novelty. Kinda like how a doubleneck is often priced 2x the price of the equivalent guitars that would make it up.1 point

This was my entrance to the Hamer world in 2013. Sold it a few years later to Saki. Regret it. It was the most resonating guitar I ever had.1 point

Sounds vaguely familiar. bought two guitars back after I sold them and one car. Sold one of the guitars and the car, still need to sell the other guitar a second timeπ₯²1 point

I have a problem. But after seeing that photo of the specials et al, I now understand that my problem is not big enough. Gotta work on that. I feel so much better.1 point
