Happy friday... let me preface by saying that I'd had a couple when I shot this guy an offer, lol I'd always liked Rock N Roll relics stuff I've noticed Billy Joe and one of the Alice Cooper guys (Ryan Roxie maybe) playing these and thought they were kind of cool... I don't really like guitars wth slogans, logos or band names on them, but given my love for this band (and Johnny Thunders, The Deadboys etc) I could make a rare exception... 7 lbs, 5 oz, mahogany, nice quality parts. pre-relic'd of course. pics and instagram clip from R&R Relics when it was being built Instagram18 points

I've been using a Player Tele almost exclusively for gigs the past few years. Covers all the styles from country to pop to rock and you don't have to worry about dings and wear. Don't have to hassle switching guitars in the middle of a set. Last night I took my 2002 Studio Custom and played it the last set. Maybe not as good for country tones but still very good. There were several highlights that will make me take it out more often. The appearance is fantastic. The vintage natural flame top looked great under the light, much more dynamic than at home. Last song was a rock inspired House of the Rising Sun jam. The woody tone from the neck pickup was great for the first lead, not available on a standard Tele. Second lead was on the bridge pickup with a wah, that tone really stood out. Pickups are @JGravelin Ultimates with UOA5 magnets and slight tweaks, most excellent. I'm at the point where I feel guilty having nice guitars and not playing them. Not worried about honest light wear from playing. The more you play them the better they sound and play, I'll still use the Tele most due to the song mix of the band. The Hamer and Les Paul will be getting more playing time.17 points

So, a while back I bought the Hamer 25th Anniversary from GC. Our fellow HFC member Polara traded it in to help ease his move out of the country. He did buy a nice hardshell Gator brand case for it, so thanks for that. I looked for an original case, and found a couple for $250.00+tax+shipping. No thanks! So I contacted a good buddy that is a graphic artist, and asked if he could make a stencil of the case logo for me. He said, "sure, no problem", I have a buddy with a 3D printer, and he can do it I'm sure. Long story longer, my buddy did the art, and his buddy did the stencil. Now I have a cool case for the 25th..I did paint the logo silver since the case has silver hardware instead of brass color like the originals.. They did a killer job! Now for a few T-Shirts! 🙂13 points

Thanks for the heads-up Hbom, I’ve been on the lookout for one of these for a while. This one is making its way to the land of kangaroos and bitey things.9 points

Great band. They really need a singer, though.9 points

Well I looked for one of these Epiphone SG-70 [Japan Domestic] for a long time, yes there were some for sale in Japan but they were rough per the photos shown and if it was not what it was described to be well then you got return shipping and all that to deal with. Got this yesterday from CME, kinda spendy but the condition is really Excellent +++. The Black finish [I have a thing for Black guitars don't you know.] is tough to find and to get one of these here in the states even more so. New case came with it so that was a added bonus as most if not all of these were issued with a gig bag. I have not had a "SG" guitar of any kind since my Gibson Double-neck days back in the early 1970's. The Black SGs with these horns on the guitar always reminded me of a bat, something sinister, spooky. So I named this one "BELA" after the "Devil Bat" movie Bela Lugosi made. Hey it's my guitar and I can do that................I'm no I'm not Joe Bonamassa. Here.8 points

There was a slight crack in the korina beneath the truss rod routing where it was thin due to the depth of the routing. The korina in the area of the crack was replaced: This was followed by some mad sorcery.7 points

2000 Hamer Artist, very clean, no real dings to speak of and only very light fretwear no leveling so nice amount of fret exists... beautiful dark board, plays and sounds nice, went on a spending spree thus the sale, I kind of don't want to sell but I'll survive OHSC I received it with changed strap buttons and knobs but I replaced them with more correct knobs and buttons, everything else is original. really clean for it's age. $1565 firm paypal friends and family or $1475 cash on a North of Boston pickup 2019 Gibson Custom Shop '57 Les Paul Junior VOS, near mint, one tiny nick near tailpiece but otherwise very clean, no fretwear, plays and sounds great. I have a Murphy Lab junior that is my number one... and decided I didn't need both. TV white is a great finish, like TV yellow it's a very subtle trans finish and looks very cool full 50's C neck. With OHSC, COA etc $2750 firm delivered paypal friends and family within the cont US or $2650 cash pickup in the North of Boston area sorry no trades. no more room for gear. weights and neck measurements on the way6 points

If I had “fuck you money”, I’d buy it just to throw it from a helicopter into a volcano so that no one would ever have to see it again.6 points

The very first time I heard Van Halen I said, "Great band. They really need a singer, though." I loved DLR's 20-something's swagger back then. It was fun to watch. He wrote perfect lyrics for the time and the band, and was more quotable than anyone out there. We listened constantly. Given his vocal limitations, it worked amazingly well. Back then. Now it's just weird and creepy.6 points

Loved Metal Church's first album!!! Still play that when I want to get into a certain mindset or head space during a workout. They moved up fro SF to Aberdeen WA. which was more or less in the vicinity of Seattle. My originals band came close to opening up for them in the early 90's at a joint called Pulsations.6 points

“The restoration work-likely including a re-top-aims to capture the classic look, feel, and tone of the Holy Grail of electric guitars. While the PAF pickups bear convincing stickers, their authenticity remains uncertain, making this an intriguing piece for players and collectors alike” Ah yes, ”Intriguing”. It’s the new “I think I got scammed”. Who wrote this, Brentrocks?6 points

Grabbed this one from Reverb a couple of weeks ago, only change I've made is to swap out the MIM pickups for some Mojotone WRHB 72 Clones. Great sounding and playing guitar that is just a hair under 7 1/4 lbs. No name Mahogany thinline body with full copper shielding, AllParts neck, Callaham bridge, Gotoh tuners, Mojotone wiring harness and a decent gig bag for a little under a grand all in. My tele collection is starting to get a little crazy, but each is different enough to justify, as is this one, what with the WRHB pickups.6 points

Thank you for posting the PSA. I took this on as a "Hamer in the wild" rescue operation. I was pleasantly surprised how well the guitar plays and resonates. It is a good one and definitely a keeper.5 points

He also claims that “The modifications and non-original components provide anopportunity to own a vintage-style Les Paul with the character of a late-'50s model.” Buncha bullshit.5 points

In a word, Yes. There's a reason the originals were called Fretless Wonders and that would never fly today.5 points

I was participating in an event on Friday evening, with my '89 Chaparral 5. A guy comes up after "I gotta check out your Hamer!" or somethng like that and introduced himself. Super cool nice guy, he played a Blitz bass way back when, still has one of the two he owned back then.4 points

I have no doubt it plays beautifully, but the mismatch of Gretsch and Explorer visuals is just too ridiculous. Jol shot down countless custom order ideas from people, but he greenlit that fucking monstrosity. No wonder Hamer shit the bed.4 points

Is it odd there are no DLR (i.e., solo) songs in the list? "Shy Boy" or "Yankee Rose?" Maybe I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed "Eat 'Em and Smile." Not as big a fan of the later efforts.4 points

I forgot to tell this story! Bought tix for the movie back in March IIRC. Reserved seats, the whole theater was shown as empty online, so I buy 2 right smack in the middle, perfect seats. We get there, empty except for 2 people right in the middle. Walk to our seats, they are in the seats right next to ours. I sit down and glance at the dude; its DEE SNIDER! Dee was rumored to have moved to our area last year. I sit there mildly freaking out, trying to convince myself not to bother him. I can't help it, after a few minutes I ask him "did you just move to Oak Ridge?". He stands up immediately and says to the woman next to him "there's no need to sit on top of each other in this empty theater" and they move to the end of the isle. I say "sorry" as they shuffle by. Jeeze.4 points

Here’s a plot twist. I called Music Zoo and let them know about the likely crack underneath the white stinger. Music Zoo got back to me and offered to sell it at a lower price… How it started: I dropped the guitar off at reputable guitar shop in the Chicago ‘burbs while in town for the Hamer 50th even last October. FedEx just delivered it to me this afternoon:4 points
